Pardon my ignorance but 5830's as far as i know can only run in a dual setup for ~530 mhash

Would be keen on 5850's ??

Unless it was a really good price

Only a dual setup? Are you planning to crossfire?

When the subject of buying BTC with Paypal comes up, I often remember this:

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Be sure to get 12v from the PSU rather than the board for the PCIe slots, any more than 3x cards on a single board without that tends to toast the 24 pin connector

You don't need crossfire to mine so you can run as many as you want on riser cables.

The 5850 is a better card (more efficient per Mh) but will cost you at least 25% more than a 5830.

If electricity is cheap/free, think of that as buy 4 get 1 free.  Wink

IMHO the 6xxx series trumps the 5xxx series in mining LTC.
