Is it a sin to gamble?

I guess it depends on your purpose and the after effect of it. What I mean is that if you gamble because you have enough funds from legal source and not compromising others then its your prerogative. Your purpose mostly is to win and have a convenient life for your family then I guess its not a sin. The after effect is something on how you do after your winnings. Or how you will react after you loss. Gambling was created for entertainment and most likely we join it to enjoy and have fun. A sin to gamble is not really the main thing but this may lead us to sin if we compromise our family and other people.

I think it is only a sin if the money you are using to gamble was not earned honestly. Other than that, gambling can be a hobby.

You're totally correct, gambling is not a sin at all which its our own choice to gamble which the money that we have is came from our own effort like our salary income. I would say it will be a sin when it involves life and death which you try to gamble. As what we all know gambling is just for pass time just take a breath from stressful moments in life, but some people take it seriously which can do bad thing due to their greediness.

Yes, for me gambling is not a sin if ever we do it in a right way, like for not cheating in order to win and like said that money is from the right placed. In other way around like government prohibited gambling then if you do it against the law so that is the time that you committed a sin from your authorities but for the law above i don't think so.

People have different belief but in gambling we just have one purpose which is to win, if we cannot make a sin then we should be responsible to only bet what we can afford to lose because that is the only way where we can enjoy and appreciate gambling. It's not a mature attitude if we will blame gambling for our loses because that is normal that is why we have to control.

I think in modern world, people thinking’s are believes. Their creed stands no importance to them. I think there’s no religion in the world which allows people to gamble because it is not a secure thing for them and no creed wants to put the followers in danger.

If we will talk collectively, then gambling is truly a sin because it affects the life of people very badly, but talking about individually, we will never take it as a sin because no one accepts that he’s doing sin.

For me gambling shouldn't be considered as a sin specially if you are just playing for fun or to relax or enjoy your time.
But if you are in it for the profit or being greedy for money then you should consider it as a sin.

The problem with your analogy is that prostitutes are able to make money to at least pay their bills whereas gamblers are going to lose money in the end because gambling is always an expected net loss on whatever you bet.

Sure, when you get lucky you will win but most of the time that just isn't going to happen.

I do not think I harm anyone, making money or losing it is in your hands and you have psychological problems. Debt is not gambled with money, this mistake is made very often.

The thing make some people consider gambling as a sin is because of the money making proccess itself.

yes gambling is ok as long as long as your doing it in a right and apropriate way.  gambling is not a sin at all because gambling itself is an act of playing and betting a certain amount of cash or any other things that has a specified value for a chance to double it but of course theres no guarantee or assurance that you can double it due to the fact that gambling is a verry risky game to play. a sin is act of doing inapropriate things like killing a human or an animal that is inocent and not intended to be killed.

I couldn't agree more, it becomes bad and perhaps sin against your family if you spend the family income on gambling and leave them for dead without food and basic necessities. A lot of the addicted gamblers are irresponsible at home and they are the reason many see gambling as sin.

I don't see gambling as sin. Some people who are religious believe it is.
I see it as entertainment and fun, that's all.

It all depends on the judge and what is played, I know that gambling is a sin because spending money for free and not control is a passion in playing it and that includes sin. because gambling is just a moment's pleasure and will make you lose it all

Sin in terms of religion and sin in terms of norms , people have different point of views about that but one thing I know that gambling makes fortune for few people but makes suffering a lot of people mostly and that's the problem for them to consider enough it as a sin for themselves.
