...

I take the old-fashioned view of gold: If you can't stand in front of it, and defend it with an AR-15, then you don't own it.

In other words, find a way to be able to buy and hide your physical gold.

If Bitgold ever defaults (like during a gold price reset to $50,000...), then the BEST you could hope for would be cash settlement, and that would be at a lower price (before the sudden reset).

Holding your gold close is just so much better.

I'd have to agree with this.

Why bother trusting them? You can literally just buy gold. It just seems too easy. Also, the 1st time posters coming on here to give a huge in-depth review only raises my suspicions.

This makes sense.
If they are a scam it should be know, but in the mean time buy gold directly.

There are many places these day where you can buy gold, even with bitcoin.

Bitgold isn't just about buying gold, there are plenty of good places to do so, it's about using gold as a currency easily.

check out digix.io - they just started to trade real gold backed tokens on ethereum blockchain. that's how it should be, not via a shady centralized website.

So as Minifrij decided to do here and like it's mentioned here : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1326821.msg13677522#msg13677522
I will leave this topic open for the next week and we will see the reviews and feedbacks coming , and Bitgold will be added/removed from the Scam list based on those reviews .
Rules stays the same , Newbies and Junior members accounts won't be taken seriously .

I would still advice this is not the right time to invest on bitgold.Haven't you seen the recent accusations in the section or just google the bitcgold scam. You can see how beautifully they have played this all out.I don't have any reasons to back it up but the entire idea of online gold which can never be felt or seen or probably you have to pay almost the same amount as your gold price to have it shipped sounds fishy to me.I'm quite sure they are 100 other alternatives to bitgold for investing.

Spend 0.1BTC (should be enough for 1g of gold) and write a review here

Review is not for me , It's for the community .
I already gave my review and I already used Bitgold and everything went fine for me & others however some people say that It's not legit , so I made this thread so we see the most reviews (bad or good) and decide if we should add it to the Scam list or not .

I have few gram bitgold but they are not widely accepted as bitcoin so i am unable to spend those. I think lots of newbie may have given review after being in similar situation but i don't get any point to say them scam.

Scam....
I have used only "the golden heart" program on bitgold. (golden heart is type of referral program). I referred my friends to this program, but after some days they reduced my balance for no reasons..

I suggest you to join bitgold and experience it yourself.
But I never suggest you to invest. Free of cost you can join, test and conclude bitgold.
There is no other way will help you to confirm better than your own experience to find it is scam or legit.

Yes, you can test at free of cost. Bitgold have a free golden heart program (referral program) you can refer you friends and earn money when they join.. I think you should use this program. if you don't earn then you don't loose also.

The OP is trying to establish the current view around here about BitGold, especially given what's been brought up previously https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1133534.380
I've folled and read this entire topic, and my opinion is still the same: Bitgold has a great product, a modern "digital gold standard", but I don't trust them. For one, they're not a bank, so the normal rules and government regulations (for banks) don't apply to them.
Second, they seem unable to handle their core business. They say all their gold has a physical equivalent in a vault, and yet payments can get a charge back, which makes is useless for any transaction. Users have even reported negative balances, and I know for a fact "negative physical gold" does not exist, which means it's nothing more than a number in a computer instead of the physical gold they claim.

If you want gold, there are many cheaper and less risky ways.
I agree. The good thing about Bitgold would be an easy entry to the gold market. If only a local shop would sell 10 gram cubes Wink
