I'd like to earn some bitcoin. I'm a skilled web developer, Ruby on Rails, Html5 CSS3, jQuery, and more...

Any one hiring and paying BTC? Any one have any experience with working for BTC?

I don't feel like buying bitcoin, and fuel speculation, I want to earn it, the whole point of a currency is to facilitate trade, so lets trade my services and experience for some coin.

I'm considering making a post on forbitcoin.com but I'm looking for something that is a more involved project.

If could do a very small amount of work or a small amount of coin, but I'd be much more interested in building a full web application, challenging and rewarding work, not mechTurk work.

So the only reason you want to do this is psychological, having to "earn" it...? Anyone purchasing bitcoins is earning it anyway though, cash ain't free Smiley

You'd save yourself headaches if you just did a project for someone in a normal space where you trade your services and convert to bitcoins. Probably get paid better too. By asking for someone to pay you in bitcoins, you limit your supply of competing employers greatly, and also remember the employer now needs to take on very substantial currency risk. The exchange rate for bitcoins at the time they agree to the contract, will not be the same as when they pay you.

If you're looking for a more involved project, check out workforbitcoin.com - we're not affiliated, but I think thats what they are trying to specialize in - big jobs.

Thanks darbsllim I'll take a look.

Ardant I already work for $ my point is that bitcoin is intended to be a currency, a 'coin' not a 'share'. Thus fair I see the price of bitcoin is being driven by pure speculation not by actual use.

If the employer was generating profit in USD and only had USD then yes they would have currency risk. However my thought is this, some folks do have thousands of BTC, others millions for them there is no currency risk. I'm not interested in converting for USD to BTC or BTC to USD.

What I want to do is earn BitCoin's and use said coin to purchase goods from others who except bitcoin in exchange for goods or services. Exchanging currency does not promote the BTC economy, it promotes speculation and perhaps money laundering both of which I feel will be detrimental to the long term success of bitcoin.
