Does your wallet show the extra payment? If not, then read this: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Change

there's a high chance it could be because my transactions took more than 5 days to complete.  how am I able to get it back from the newly changed address?  I'm using bitcoin qt

I have recently explained it on another thread where a beginner has got the some questions. It is just a wallet reorganization.

For example, you have got two addresses in your wallet with a balance of 0.1 BTC in address 1 and 0.2 BTC in address 2. So, your wallet has got a balance of 0.3 BTC. Now you are send 0.25 BTC to address 3. Then there are taken 0.2 BTC from address 2 and 0.05 BTC from address 1. This reorganization is the second transaction you have posted.

I don't use bitcoin qt but from what I read it seems like qt doesn't show your change address on your address list... but it will take btc from those addresses the next time you want to send btc to someone.

and no, change address doesn't have anything to do with how long your transaction took to complete.

One of your transactions shows 0 Fees? How much time did it take for conformations ? Which wallet do you use? Has the balance deduction reflected in your wallet ?

EDIT : Since you're using qt,have you synchronized it with the server yet ?

If you are still using bitcoin qt you should update to bitcoin core, maybe you just stuck to the old name though. Latest version is 0.11.2, 0.10.3 is fine as well.

To see your change address you have to change some settings that are not available in the old versions. You have to enable coin control. To do so:

Settings -> Options -> Wallet -> check "Enable coin control features"

once you did this confirm with ok. It might have to restart, Im not sure. Once you are back on the main screen do:

Send -> Inputs -> select Tree mode and search for the addresses you know, e.g. 1KsvvEnFofFHogEWQMn4Kg3ZsisTxChonr for this[1] TX. If you click on the small triangle to the left you will see another address labeled as "(change)".

Im not really here, its just your imagination.

Actually it is reflecting your change and the remaining balance of your wallet after buying.
Or if you are using some online wallets like coinbase or xapo then they combine other's payments into a single transaction block before broadcasting into the network.

Please check your balance. If you see the available balance is what you though should be then you are fine. Do not worry about it Smiley
