impressive that someone went to the effort
unfortunately 408khash will earn less than 0.00008439BTC/day at current difficulty or $0.0011342016 per day at current price
I know people are desperate to mine Bitcoins, but really?

I think it is more for benchmarking purposes.  Which phone is the most uber or something.  I can't imagine anyone is getting excited about the $0.41 per year it could earn (before ASICs arrive).

Considering the app is USD2.63 on the Play Store one can be reasonably certain it is not intended to mine for a profit.

some androids have quad-core processers; modifying this for litecoin mining (scrypt) would at least be somewhat more profitable, wouldn't it?

This already exists.

http://forum.litecoin.net/index.php/topic,716.msg2652.html

From the thread, though, it appears to be nearly useless. The network moves on to the next block before people can submit a single share. Funny that people complain about that on their phone, when that's what happens on my laptop. >.< (Though, the developer says he intends to upgrade it to be faster. We'll have to see.)

what about https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=93276.0? I suppose 1-2 kh/s (if you're lucky) is pretty terrible, but it's better than the miner you mentioned (without calculating power, it'll generate ~12-24 LTC per year) or the BTC miner.

That does look a lot better. But, you know, it's still ridiculously unprofitable. I'm not sure what the point is, but I suppose, "Because I can," is a decent enough reason. Smiley

Great job for makin' it, but it's still pretty useless..

Especially compared to the ASICs
Weell,, At least it's proven that it's possible

EndTheFed123, if you had just taken the money it wouldn't have ended like this Sad
BTW this hasn't been the real DPony13 since he "came back", I just hacked this account, SirLolicon is the real DPony13 I think.

I found a web miner that claims compatibility with the iPhone. I don't have one, so I can't check, but here it is. http://www.bitarama.com/mobile-mining

(But, really, you should consider the fact that this is ridiculously unprofitable.)
