The last time New York got involved in regulating bitcoin and its related technology the resulting “BitLicense” affected a few upstart innovators on the cutting edge of financial technology.
But this time around, with a brand-new person in the state’s top financial regulation position, additional controls would likely impact all of Wall Street. Or at least, any part of Wall Street using the technology that underlies bitcoin, called the blockchain.
