There are some on Meetup.com. The active one in the LA area is in Santa Monica.

I will be traveling to the bay area after a few months (probably in August or September). I will be staying in Newark for about 4 weeks. But the issue is that Santa Monica is some 600 km to the south-east. Are there any meetups near the Bay Area?
