According to EconoTimes, in rather surprising news, a Bitcoin Conference is going to be held in the country on April 8th 2016 at Digital October, Moscow, Bersenevskaya naberezhnaya, 6, str. 3. Smile-Expo’s press document noted that several Russian companies, with banking partners located abroad, have always expressed their interests in the blockchain technology. If this is true this may add some good news towards blockchain tech and bitcoin. Isn't in russia bitcoin is banned? (i may have misunderstood this).

Hope Russian low makers change their view regarding BTCitcoin this time as they seem to really hate it (not sure why). They could remove the ban from companies using BTCitcoin and this would really help into affecting it's value for sure if given more freedom. If this is true this may add some good news towards blockchain tech and bitcoin. Isn't in russia bitcoin is banned? (i may have misunderstood this).
Yes it's banned but not completely. I have a friend in Russia and he own a small mining farm there since last year and he haven't got into any trouble so far.

Fantastic news, but I still think that Russia will prevail on oef the most fundamentally flawed against Bitcoin because of their political views. I wonder if Putin will be ok with Vitalik Buterin shenanigans tho, since ETH is turning into a bankster alliance anyway, so I wonder if he will like this since Putin loves centralization a oppression.

Good news I guess. It is better to hear there is a conference in Russia rather than hearing more about them banning it.

In first view this news can seem extraordinaire having in mind that bitcoin is banned in Russia and even that one member of Government (minister of finances) has proposed to create an low which would have as its aim to put in jail everyone who use or have to do in some way with bitcoin. But in the same time may be not a such kind of news because there are rumors that Bank of Russia is studying blockchain with the aim to create its own digital currency. The rumors give even various details one of which is that this Bank is collaborating with QIWI in order to build a privately-run crypto-currency for the Russian market. Who want to know more can read here: http://cointelegraph.com/news/russia-to-create-bitruble-a-state-run-digital-currency-for-2016

If this is a conference about Bitcoin, it could be a good thing, if it done in a good way. If it a conference about the blockchain technology, this is definitly bad news.

That's a great news! Actually Russia has a lot of decent programmers and software developers. Too bad that people who are making laws there frequently prevent good things from happening.

The Russian government have been tossing with Bitcoin for years now... The one moment you hear something good and the next thing you hear, it was banned. I just hope these politicians go to this conference and they dig a little deeper than the perceived threat and hostility they see in this technology. FFS, just come out and make some final decision and move forward with this. It's frustrating for the rest of the world to see how they toy around with the concept and not decide where they stand. Lots of Bitcoin companies wants to expand to Russia, but they not sure where they stand in regards to the future regulation. http://www.altcointoday.com/russian-anti-bitcoin-law-draft-may-be-flawed/

Yes it's banned but not completely. I have a friend in Russia and he own a small mining farm there since last year and he haven't got into any trouble so far. Apparently bitcoin legal status in Russia is complicated, first the Russian Central Bank stated that bitcoin usage is illegal under Russian federal law, then they said that it can't be used either by institutions nor individuals. But in 2015 Deputy Finance Minister Aleksey Moiseev announced that a law will be passed by Spring 2015.

I beleive this "competition" between countries will only benefit the bitcoin community. Russia entering in the playground will put pressure onto USA innovation agencies. i'm sure they don't want to loose the financial revolution train!
