How long does it take to get back the 0.79 you invest to start hard drive mining? If it is less than 4 month, it is worth a try.

At storj you do not mine but you rent your hard disk to other users with Storj as middle man. Look at the site of Storj what their price for rented Mb is.

Burstcoin is HDD minable but in the present circumstances is it necessary to invest in HDD because with your spare space on your laptop HDD earn you nothing. There are now dozens of HDD farms playing with 100Terabytes or more to mine Burst.

100Terabytes isn't that costly.
20x5TB seagate expansion drives = 120x20 = £2400
5x 4drive NAS bay = 50x5=250

2400+250=£2650 (not too much), runs faster with ays and possibly takes up less space/power.

The requirement for holding 10k SJCX was for test group B which has concluded already. At the time that group started the 10k SJCX were worth a lot less, it was more like $100-200 USD. There will be new rules for the upcoming test group C, and holding 10k SJCX in your payout address will no longer be a requirement. Under current conditions, a single 8TB (actually 7.27 or some such FORMATTED) Seagate Expansion drive (usually the Seagate Archive 8TB internally) will pull in ballpark 450 BURST/month for perhaps $6 a month.

 ALL of the calculators are optimistic by quite a bit, due to how the BURST "network" is measured and an inherent flaw in that method - I generally take the figure any calculator comes up with and estimate I MIGHT get as high as 2/3ds (more commonly closer to 60%) of the amount the calculator comes up with.

 ANY size HD will work, but IMO anything under 1TB isn't worth bothering with any more.

https://storj.io/share.html the only thing that sucks its driveshare so when you are uploading or downloading it taxes your network. if you game on the same network you will notice a shitty ping situation. but they do pay.

 More like 2 and a half years under current conditions.

 Might be able to drop that some if you buy refurbished drives - but HGST is about the only brand I would trust refurbs on at all and even THERE it's iffy.

space of your hdd its better to visit their website to learn more about this features though as of now its not really profitable to invest with such devices the target time frame to get roi would be much longer.

Actually. Burst enables you to MINE on your hard drive using data plotters as a PoCapacity style system. The person with the highest space gets the highest reward.

atm, mining using HDD is not profitable. It should be calculated how much hdd you have and how much hdd space you have.

But if you want you can try the Burstcoin mine. First, the more HDD space, the better.

and...

if you tried and doesn't profitable. you can stop the mining and delete allocated files.

A hard drive plotted for use with Burstcoin will not degrade the Hard drive.  All Burstcoin miners will tell you similar stories My Hard drives purchased in 2014 are still running. My newer external drives are still running.  3 external drives died however they were replaced under warranty and those drives are now past the warranty and still running.  My NAS drives are from 2003 and still running without error. 1 external drive I thought was bad turned out to be the external drive controller so that was taken out of the case and still running.
 My only 2 trouble some drives are cheap 1tB ezstor and 2Tb green drive so those were reformatted plotted and by the way running.

My point i haven't thrown away a drive yet just keep adding

I have an 8tb drive and am wondering whether to get a few other drives as theyre quite cheap to get hold of second hand ones.
