Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has once again accused Russia of violating the nation's airspace and has now warned of "consequences" if it happens again. The relationship between the two nations has been tense since Turkey shot down a Russian jet in November, and now Nato have asked Russia to respect their member state's territory.

Ankara claimed, on that occasion, that the jet had travelled into its airspace and had ignored previous warnings but Russia claims it was just flying on the edge of its territory and the action was unwarranted. Russia has been carrying out air strikes and reconnaissance in Syria since September, in an effort to dismantle forces fighting the government of their ally - Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

I bet this time Russia sent modern aircraft so it was tough job for Turks to shot it down lol. Anyway Turks should stop bitching, forget their lost smuggling business and help instead of trying to slow down Russian actions.

Erdogan supports ISIS and members of his family have business connections with them..Remember the plane they put down, they didn't entered Turkey airspace..Turkey is not an enemy to be underestimated but if want to deal with Russia, well won't recommend to them

In 2014, the Turkish fighter jets violated the Greek air space more than 3,000 times. A few decades back, the Turks invaded the Greek majority island of Cyprus, killing thousands of native Christians. They still control around 35% of the island. However, when they are being given a taste of their own medicine by Russia, the Turks start to whine like a child.

I wouldn't say destroying ISIS is Russia's main objective; rather, their main objective would be securing their interests and influence in the region. If ISIS gets in the way, they want to get rid of it, sure; but the same is true for any other "moderate" faction (to the extent those might exist, if at all), as well as any other foreign forces.

erdogan is definitely right.. he must take some precaution for his country'S sake..

Precaution against what, exactly? It's not like Russia is looking to attack Turkey proper - they certainly are attacking Turkish interests in Syria, but it should be obvious by now Turkey et al. aren't going to get their way there (to the detriment of everyone else).
