PS:The documentation section needs a better reworking - I find parts of it confusing and convoluted, especially at the signing stage.

Yup - I will be making some changes as per notes I've taken already but if you have other suggestions as to how to make it less confusing they would be appreciated (initially I only really wrote it for myself to use so no doubt I have left out some things that seem obvious to myself but not to someone new to raw tx's).

With CIYAM anyone can create 100% generated C++ web applications in literally minutes.

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Okay.
In the signing stage, this command:
Code:
createrawtransaction "[{\"txid\":\"62f04f8ee14567ef9a052a56cbda2f7489ccdf17177658a728108c50d4f5c250\",\"vout\
":1}]" "{\"1PutTheAddressToSendToInHerexxxxx\":0.099}]"
tells me to use the same txid as above as there's no mention to me to change the txid.

There's also other changes you should consider:
For one, you should include kWrite or some other text processing software to simplify stuff  during the making of small changes to the scripts or so. Also, you could use some other stripped down distro's to keep the space down - 2.7 GB for a couple of tools is a tad too big, and it's inefficient for older machines. (I experienced lagging on my netbook , had to switch to a new laptop to get this done).

Okay - have made a note about that one.

Yup - when I start using this regularly for paying CIYAM Open devs I will most likely be whipping up another script or two to simplify the "text work".

The distro was really a question of how easily I could put it together and for me SUSE Studio wins hands down for simplicity (am not really a Linux guru and unfortunately I just don't have any spare time to be playing around with other distros so unless they have their own online SUSE Studio equivalent that I can get working in an hour or so then this is not likely to change).

I'm sure it would be possible, however, to "trim" the distro that I have created although I think it would be hard to shrink it down to say half the size it is now.

Thanks again for the suggestions!

Well it is interesting that there is still 6 BTC available (2 BTC reserved for the 3rd poster who hasn't posted again yet and 4 BTC in the "pot") but seemingly no takers.

I will still keep the offer open for the 3rd poster until 48 hours after their post but if there are no other takers for this within 24 hours then I will use the funds left over to fund some other tasks on CIYAM Open (which may be more interesting to members who are programmers).

Also if John has any interest in furthering the CIYAM Safe project (such as changing the distro as he had mentioned) then I would also be happy to donate the remaining funds from this testing task towards that cause (as another project on CIYAM Open which he could manage as he sees fit).

I'm quite surprised. It's quite a simple task for the tech-savvys here

I think it's probably the fact that it is "testing" (which is why if no other takers I will tunnel the funds into some "programming" tasks that might have wider appeal).

BTW - if any of the posters here are interested in joining CIYAM Open then let me know (currently membership is limited to "invitation only") - basically this task is an example of how it will be run (i.e. a non-competing chance to demonstrate a provable result in a limited time-frame for a guaranteed BTC reward if successful and I will be personally investing at least 100 BTC to get the ball rolling).

It's a nice project, one thing though, why is the size of the distro. so large considering there are so few packages in it?
I've created a few custom Linux distros. in the past and, if using a lightweight desktop environment, something like this would normally come in at around 250-300MB.

+1. If you model it off Puppy Linux, it'll be really tiny.

Actually I did start with Puppy but it all just got too hard trying to work out how to set it up (not being familiar with creating distros and having SSH only "online" access to Linux) so I went the SUSE Studio path for the convenience.

As stated I am willing to create a project on CIYAM Open for further work on this and to even donate some BTC towards it but I am far too busy with other things to spend more time on this "side project" (although the disto is bloated and the UI is clumsy it gets the job done which is all I need for CIYAM Open to safely handle its BTC).

I'm copying http://susestudio.com/a/kp8B3G/ciyam-safe to a 4GB drive using Image Writer and I'm not able to get it to boot??

Am I missing a step?

Thx.

[quoteCIYAM Pty. Ltd.]

If you ever need a hand, let me know.
I could set you up with a smooth running Arch Linux based version in a couple of hours.

Nope - that should work fine - corrupted image perhaps?

That would be much appreciated as I would be happy to keep a much smaller distro as a download from ciyam.org - if possible I would also want instructions on how to go about rebuilding the distro myself if I wanted to make changes to the CIYAM Safe tools - would that be very difficult?

I've got nothing to do right now, so I'll start work on working on a quick set up so you can get a taster to decide if it's some thing you want.
It wouldn't be difficult at all; it just requires 'unpacking' the squash filesytem, updating your tools, and re-squashing, I'll give you a full write up on it if need be.

Wish I could be of more help - did you check the MD5 checksum (I think SUSE Studio can show you that)?

That's very kind - and I am happy to have that 2 BTC put towards the Arch Linux version. Smiley
