I've bought a hardware wallet (Ledger Wallet) to gain an acceptable level of security for my bitcoins and I would like to use it with a full node. To support the net as well as for privacy reasons.

Is there a chance that Armory will support hardware wallets (in my case especially the Ledger Wallet) in the near future?

Thanks in advance.

Progress was made towards getting Trezor integrated, but that all depends on getting the new HD wallet format finished, so it was re-prioritised in the overall development schedule.

I'm also enthusiastic about getting Armory working with hardware wallets; the problem with hardware wallets right now is that only lite-node Bitcoin clients have integrated them, which means that although hardware wallets are secure, they are not especially private. There's basically zero chance of the main client integrating them, that team already have too much on their plates.

So Armory is the only realistic prospect for full-node hardware wallets, but there's work to be done to get there. I'm optimistic that using a Trezor/Ledger (they're the same device underneath) with Armory will be possible sometime this year, but that's a total guess really. Wait to see what etotheipi or goatpig have to say.

According to the new Armory roadmap, the major pre-requisites for the current existing hardware wallets would be dealt with as the 2nd priority on that list (BIP32 aka HD wallet format). So there could easily be progress up to that point as early as the summer, it depends somewhat on how much sophistication goatpig intends to put into the design of the new format. It's possible that actual implementation of the hardware wallet could come as late as stage 4 (the haggling and horsetrading stage  Cheesy). But it also might only be 3 hours of work once the BIP32 wallet design is complete. goatpig may eventually tell us more.
