Did you connect the U3s directly with your computer or with the help of an USB(2)-Hub?

In case you don't already have an external powered USB2-Hub, you will need one (but not sure if one is sufficient). I only have 2 U3s and I run them also with a HUB but I'm not sure if I could connect 7 U3s over this HUB even though it offers exactly 7 USB2-Slots.

U3 doesn't share resources very well. The easiest work around is to add  --usb :4    to the end of your batchfile . Then you can open a second instance with the same batchfile and the other three will work fine.

U3's have their own power bricks or some use PSU adapters.  So the USB hub is not as big of thing with them as it is with say a compac that runs off of usb power.

My biggest advice is get a R1 and use Crazy Guy's firmware to control you U3's.  It will make your life easy with the zombie detection.  I used a cheap usb 2.0 hub with the R1 and U3's and it worked fine.
