Ways to spread bitcoin revolution - A guide for the outsiders

Hello there,

Each day I become more and more passionate about the potential of bitcoin technology.

Crypto culture has dominated my researches for months now. It's almost all I talk about with friends and family.

I really believe we're on the verge of a big revolution. Killing the intermediary is not just making our transactions cheaper. It's giving people power. It's giving people freedom. From the State, from the corporations. From all those who, above all, CONTROL humankind.

I don't have technical skills. I don't know how to program and I have a hard time catching up with in-depth discussions. But I'm a business bachelor and I have a masters degree in administration. How I wish I could put that to use and be a part of all this change!

But, how to do that? How can non-technical people help increase bitcoin adoption and acceptance? Any ideas?

I'm talking about making money with bitcoins here. I'm talking about social change. It's way beyond "profit", way beyond business.

find a product that you think would be popular to sell. and if totally non technical then sell it using bitpay/coinbase who will give your customer the payment addresses when they click to buy. and you can choose how much you keep (for investment) and how much you convert into cash to buy new stock.

to expand adoption. would be to advertise your products to the (non-bitcoin)community that shows interest in your product range.

eg (random thought) if its DIY tools, advertise it on hobby/carpentry/home fixing websites and forums.

if you are not interested in selling product and your business skill is PR/consulting. then find some businesses that you think would be useful to the bitcoin community and contact them and introduce them to bitcoin.

The best way to encourage mainstream adoption is not necessarily with skills or elaborate schemes, but simply introducing people to bitcoin. Give BTC as gifts/presents and show the recipient how to use a wallet, or exchange it to cash if needed. Ask small local stores if they accept bitcoin, if they seem interested volunteer to show them how to setup a wallet or to visit Bitpay or other processor to accept BTC and convert it into Fiat. Until people are actually exposed to it, most will seem put-off and not trust it. Once they are exposed, they may embrace it and spread the word further, so if you expose 10 people to BTC and even if only 2 of them go on to expose others to BTC, its adoption will grow.

The problem is most people simply want it to magically succeed with no time or financial investments of their own. By investments, I am not talking about buying 100 BTC and hope it grows, but the investment of giving BTC away to introduce others to it, or donating your time to help people get to know and use it better. That's the kind of investments we are in most need of right now.

I once walked into a computer store and filled my trolley with expensive goods. I then went to the cashier and I pulled out my phone. I knew they did not accept Bitcoin and I also knew the sales people worked on commission. I proceeded to ask them, if I can pay with Bitcoin.

They called the manager and I had to explain that I wanted to pay for the items with Bitcoin. The manager knew nothing about Bitcoin, so I invited him for a pub lunch at a bar in the area. The bar accepted BTC and I paid for the lunch with bitcoins.

The owner of the bar <A friend of mine> and the manager of the computer store, discussed the payment processors and the options and within a month, the computer store started to accept BTC.

That is a nice example how it can go. Unfortunately most retailers are becoming large brands by now and it is not always as easy as convincing the store manager to accept it.

I'm wondering, does that computer store still accept bitcoin? And do they sell a lot of stuff for bitcoin? I can imagine that they stop accepting it if people don't use the option. At least the manager is now likely to be into bitcoin though.

Best way for non techy people to adopt Bitcoin is to showcase and demonstrate it's step by steps usage in the simplest way to them. To use the easiest words when explaining to them meaning use something else when you want to say for instance: instead os sign a message you could say provide signature aproval of something ... Hope the idea was that and it takes a longer time for them to understand how it works.

First, tell them if bitcoin is worth in the future, explain how bitcoin growing. If they interested, start to educate with easy explanation, don't speak programing language use simple words which usually use daily, then start to practice, this is important thing which you need full understanding how bitcoin works and tell them to avoid scammers, malware, keep they step safe.
