Thats  right!   Shocked

To help spread the love and word of TerraCoins I'm giving away a free TRC (Terracoin) for each TRC address that is posted in this thread.

Terracoin is an Alternative Crypto Currency based on Bitcoin (just a little bit faster)  and just as secure and stable. It's also easy to mine.

To download the official  client: http://terracoin.org/downloads/

There you can also find  out more including building the client from Source.

You can pool mine at: Coinotron.com
Currently the difficulty is low enough that you can still make coins with your GPU, but I don't know for how long. As soon as ASIC hits Bitcoin, Terracoin will be the next logical place for lots of Bitcoin GPU power. So get onboard while you can!

To generate a wallet: www.terracoin.info

To Explore the  Blockchain: http://www.cryptocoinexplorer.com:3750/

To Trade Terracoin: http://exchange.zapto.org/

I will  try to check this thread once per day, so depending on the response it might take a little time to send everything, but don't worry, I'll be sending out coins!

No guarantee for how long, and I haven't set a limit, so get them while you can! Post your  TRC address in  this thread for the free coins!

I'm all for competing currencies, but they should at least have some property that is actual competition with Bitcoin!

What advantages does TRC have over BTC that would make it worth my precious hard drive space to bother creating a wallet?
Give me your best pitch!

Well, I'm not the pitcher for this coin. I'm just giving a few away. There are indeed some differences that could potentially make it more interesting than BTC in some situations, but certainly that would be a personal decision you would need to make yourself. There is plenty of information out there on Github- take a peek at the Source if you wish to really know the nitty-gritty. Otherwise though, if you do go get the client, I will send you some TRC.

cheers!

Give me your best pitch!

2 minutes on average for block solution, that is 5 times faster than Bitcoin - noticably less time required for transaction conformation.

Also, it ain't gonna kill your HDD since full install + all data after sync with network is not even 85 MB.

That's it? Bitcoin's confirmation times don't bother me one iota. Thanks for the offer anyway OP!

Well, if you think conformation times that can exceed 1 hour for 1st conformation is something most merchants will love, bet on Bitcoin only.

I don't think they will love it or hate it. I think it's a non-factor. Thank you for sharing the information though.

Actually the confirmation time issue is exactly why some brick-and-mortar merchants have chosen NOT to accept bitcoin. You can't pay for lunch if you have a 30 minute lunch break and it takes and hour to confirm. Or a taxi for that matter. Furthermore the worst part is you  don't know WHEN it will confirm, so you stand around just waiting- wondering.

Merchants are concerned about a double spend for $20 lunch or a $15 taxi ride? Could you provide some examples so I can read up on this?

Sure, me. I run buybtc.cz and I'm in the process of trying to get merchants to accept Bitcoin in the Czech Republic. This is the number one question/concern. If you search the forums you'll find a hilarious story about trying to pay for a prostitute with an hourly rate with Bitcoin. The point was that the longer you wait for confirms the more it costs you, but for services like prostitution (a vulgar, but in this story very very funny example) confirmation times are killer.

In this hilarious, but off-color example, the poster made the point that with time based merchants like prostitutes, you have to also pay for the time it takes for confirmations. The longer it takes to pay the more it costs to pay, but since you don't know how long it will take to confirm, you don't know the final price when you include the time taken for both the services and the time it takes to pay. Obviously you could end up  with a situation  that the confirmation time costs more then the amount sent, requiring you to make another payment, and have to pay yet again for even more confirmation time.

So yes, it's an issue.
