"Just send us your money and we will send you profit from these magical machines you never get to see."

Two asic companies really seem to be pushing the hosted option. Same companies are having delivery problems on preorders...

Totally agree - hosted asics would make a fantastic cover for a ponzi. Even more so if anyone eventually delivers a real asic.

The thought has crossed my mind, especially as we've already had scams that demonstrate how easy it is for someone to set up a sham mining security and do a runner. On the other hand, if any of these companies deliver there'll be a huge hashrate rise that'd be hard to fake... unless they wait until someone's genuinely shipping ASICs.

Crossed my mind too.  "Oops, our data centre burned down".

All I can say is that this is Bitcoin. I don't believe it until I see six confirmations.

Fuck knows how many units the "Bitcoin lending syndicate" are going to receive in return for the early funding of the project, too.

All I can say is that this is Bitcoin. I don't believe it until I see six confirmations.

I don't even know why I'm bothering to practice so long to make real products for these people when I could just scam them out of their money so easily instead.
