Russia doesn't like bitcoins doesn't mean that it is a bad sign for BTC. They banned the currency already few months back and now they just want to fine users as they aren't collecting taxes from that income. But I believe they can not stop people saving bitcoins.

all the countries are getting afraid of bitcoin not being regulated. so they are just making these talks about bitcoin should be non-anonymous like europe, or crime like in russia. they realized that there is no way they can control bitcoin this way so they are looking forward for alternative solutions.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

Mind Russia not to understand - it is written by the Russian poet. And it's not just a metaphor. Ever since the Soviet Union is a police state. And it explains everything. The Russian government and Putin personally want to control every Russian. Therefore, all new that occurs in the West meets resistance in Russia. All progressive people of Russia - scientists, musicians, athletes, actors always left Russia to the West - in Europe or the United States. Because in Russia for all watched by the KGB. In 1994, Mr. Mavrodi MMM organized fund. The fund quickly gained popularity and collected a huge amount of money. The Russian government saw it as a threat to themselves. And the foundation was the government simply looted. Now Mavrodi organized MMMGlobal - World Fund. The hands of the Kremlin is now not reach rob him. And those people who receive assistance from the Fund thank Mavrodi. Incidentally Bitcoin Foundation uses in its calculations. Russia expects to soon collapse and the economic and political. And for this it is Putin.

Luckily, Russians have a very unique attitude towards the definition of crime. Sadly, I feel Russia is about to miss another train to the future due to their leaders' cold-war mindset. Looking at the past and trying to return to 'greatness' is not the right way to actually get there. Just my 2 cents.

Russia already started making rules making bitcoin less and less usable and that's probably because BTC shows there currency and it's real strength and they can't regulate it like foreign currencies exchange values, countries in general loves to be able to regulate and control anything specially in a country with an-almost-kingdom style.

Klimenko also said what is now becoming a consensus among authorities in Russia in that bitcoin or ‘money surrogates’ can be a threat to the economy. Furthermore, the internet advisor to Putin claimed that other countries around the world will put a stop to Bitcoin when it becomes too big or critical.

the (elected) Russian government does not like the things they can not control
bitcoin is just a computer science program
No, "Computers for Retards" is a computer science program. You're thinking "computer program." In which case, so is ransomware.
Quote
science is just nature
Child porn is just binary strings.
Quote
Russians should go to jail because their government cannot control nature
But they don't. Only go to jail for using BTCeanie BTCbabies Bitcoin.
Quote
that's the government they chose
it is so simple even a 5 year old gets it:
Russians hate any new technology that makes their lives easier
Why else do you think that it took them so long to industrialize?
Took Russia 40 years to go from agrarian society to being the first in space, lrn 2 history.
Quote
Russians should also go to jail for using heat engines, pumps, electricity, refrigerators, and above all else:
clocks, compasses, and wheels
But they don't. Only go to jail for using BTCeanie BTCbabies Bitcoin.
Quote
banning bitcoin, is a decent start though
Now you're gettin' it Smiley

Yes, there would be users from Russia who would continue to use it but the number of users would decrease significantly. I doubt that there may be any users from that country (may be 10% or less).

they didnt ban bitcoin months ago. they just reminded people that being an exchanger (of any currency) without a licence has always been illegal,
"money surrogates" is not a russian translation of 'bitcoin'. but a buzzword for anything that is not legal tender of russia(ruble).

even exchanging the dollar or euro needs registering as an exchange. and anyone not registered can only do it "under the table" because if caught. they would get fined

the fact that they are now telling people that only legal entities (institutions) will get jail time is a positive
the fact that they are only going to fine an individual $500(R40,000) is a positive.
the fact that they are only going to fine businesses $1300(R100000) is a positive.

the fact that people in the future can register their details to become an exchanger is a positive.

its worth reading source material and not the clickbait shit that mis-interprets news to case debate and get more clicks..

even fox news is guilty of generating false stories to gain popularity. BBC news, sky news. yes im talking about mainstream media. so what do you think low viewer count bitcoin media are going to do to garner more viewers.. yep thats right. twist/exaggerate stories to get people reading.

so whenever you see a story. gloss over the points they mention and find the source of their assumptions. then read the source material and make your own opinion based on the source. not the spoonfed opinion created by media

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.
Please do your own research & respect what is written here as both opinion & information gleaned from experience. many people replying with insults but no on-topic content substance, automatically are 'facepalmed' and yawned at

^^
Source material (below) is in 100% agreement with clickbait. Smiley
@naidray: Ignore franky, he knows nothing, just likes to post.

waffle from clickbait sites

so you want to use clickbait as your evidence..
again.. dont give coindesk links or forklog links.. and give the Lenta.ru or even a government news link which meant to be the source of a guy that just arrived in his job 1 month ago, who has not even made a draft himself, or any amendments (as they wont be done before february 20th)

so show me the quote on Lenta.ru which all the clickbait crypto sites have copy and pasted but not directly linked

please show the source, not the mis-interpretted and twisted comment out of context on the clickbait sites.. the actual source please
http://forklog.net/putins-internet-counselor-accepting-bitcoin-is-a-crime/
http://themerkle.com/news/putins-adviser/
Please tell me why you feel that not mainstream press, but BITCOIN PRESS is spreading such horrible disinformation, and YOU, Google Translate wizard, are *the only fricking one* who should be trusted?
Can you contact these lying statist fiatmongers and tell them to staph?

Update: found the the special sauce Cheesy
...
Ahahahaha! Here you go, Friend Cheesy

He does, he does say the very words, right here Cheesy

http://lenta.ru/video/2016/02/05/klimenko/

See the word биткoины? That's Bitcoins, in Cyrillics.

Cheesy

Please ignore the ignorant goof, he trolled me into finding this bullshit, don't let him waste your time Angry
