Introducing Casascius coins {physical Bitcoins as you put it} to you family, is very different than introducing a digital token. They might be even more confused after you show them the physical coin. We try not to associate the two with each other, because Bitcoin is just a digital token.

The Casascius coin is only a collectors item like anything else, not a representation of the Bitcoin currency.

While that physical coin (medallion) may be cool for a conversation starter, using it to introduce people to Bitcoin would indeed need a good conversation behind it. Someone who doesn't know what Bitcoin is, or maybe has only vaguely heard about it, would walk away even more confused thinking bitcoin was another coin like a silver dollar or something.

For me, I guess I would fall into the camp where a paper wallet would be the closet thing I would have to a physical bitcoin.

It might hurt if you give it to the store and both you and the cashier confuse it with one euro. big mistake.

Yeah we would love to hold physical bitcoin in our wallet, but at a moment I don't have any physical coin, and I don't see that I would be holding in near future, and I am satisfied with the digital coins that I am holding.

I doesn't have physical bitcoin. It looks good as equal to our local coins.
I have decided to get one. Does this coin can be used in any stores that
accept bitcoin. What minimum value does the physical coin possess.

This is a good collectible coin.Although I don't have any at the moment but sooner or later I will buy one undoubtedly. Also instead of just a collectible coin ,you could buy an actual off-line wallet, which would actually serve the purpose of having a physical bitcoin. As Lauda as mentioned you should be checking out Mitchell's collection you will be amazed.

I've just bought a physical Bitcoin. Of course it doesn't have any monetary value, but it still looks great. Furthermore, I think it can be a very good way to introduce BTC to your family/friends: seeing it as a physical coin, I think they are more likely to become interested in "knowing more" about it. Who knows?

Do you have any physical Bitcoins?

I think physical BTC makes to understand the concept harder... It should stay always digital not physical...

I agree with you! cryptocurrency should be in the form of digital only. If physical bitcoin exists, then what's the difference between fiat and cryptocurrency?

I don't have yet. Having a physical Bitcoin is for those who wants to advance to the next level of collecting Bitcoins. It costs a lot for if your an avid collector, price of coin does not matter.

I don,t have physical bitcoin . I hope not any customer have also physical bitcoin . bitcoin is only you can feel same like internet only you can use

Perhaps if the physical coin can be used for transactions would be more fun and we can buy whatever we want with the physical coins bitcoin.
Maybe if it was true that there was very enjoyable and I hope it Grin

So it would be like a useless token?
Then why not have a bitcoin t-shirt? I can help you with that.
And it will be more visible for people.

No I don't. But I really want to get one or two of the real coins. Maybe I can save up and get them in pure gold.

Wow! That looks great. You are right, if you have a physical bitcoin then you will be able to make more people attract towards bitcoin because it looks really cool and everyone would love to have it.
Well i guess there is still a long time for me to have one like that in my hands Cheesy
I don't know about that.  I think introducing someone to bitcoin with a physical bitcoin--especially if they have no idea what btc is about--would be confusing.  They'd link bitcoin with a physical coin, which it really isn't.  I can't stand news stories about bitcoin where they feel they need a picture in the story, and it's always a gold-colored token with the BTCsymbol on it.  There doesn't need to be a fucking picture in these stories.

Anyway, unnecessary though they are, I do like some of the coins.  I especially like the ones made out of precious metals, and as what'shisname up there said (can't go back, clown will eat me), coins made out of gold & silver will always be worth at least melt value.
