Not to put too much of a downer on it, but it should be noted that SteamDB aren't affiliated with Valve, so we shouldn't technically consider this an official announcement just yet.  The dev group the image is sourced from is private, so it's difficult to verify its authenticity with absolute certainty.  It does look promising, though.

It's starting to pop up on other game sites, things are starting to look more legitimate now, but I'm not holding my breath until I see a Bitcoin logo in the payment methods list as usual with this sort of thing.

Very good news, a lot of gamers could use bitcoins on steam. I have seen a video on reddit, one user showing how it works.

Only a few months left until the steam summer sale, is your wallet prepared?

In all seriousness, this is actually a big step towards mainstream adoption. A large and very-well know company will start using Bitcoin, and in a more active way, and this could result in more people getting interested in ways to earn or buy it, continuing to drive the value and growth of the community.

awww, why does it have to be like this Gaben? Why don't you put it worldwide? Embarrassed

Is it because of the third-party payment system? Bitcoins should be accepted worldwide, not only US and Europe only.

Guess we have to wait until it's released worlwide.

This is very good news. companies such as steam will use bitcoin. This is evidence of the growing and broad acceptance among bitcoin. I believe this year will present some of the company's e-commerce which will follow progress of steam. bitcoin has been great and it's time a new era started.

it's a evidence of shit. it's nothing. Overstock accepts BTC since 1 year ago and they only had few transaction. That's why you didn't buy games via Steams until now? Because they didn't accept BTC?  Grin Grin Grin
