Yes, you can, that's the principle of Electrum and why I love it so much Smiley. However, I don't know if it will be in "watch-only" mode or not.

I finally managed to make about 1.5 BTC in all my addresses and put them in a wallet in electrum. I have it in a safe PC and continue to add more BTC to it. The seed I have in a password protected document in a USB. The safe PC is using an advanced Linux version. Now if I want to open this wallet at some other PC(because god forbid, maybe the hardisk may get burned) can I if I only have the seed ?

Urgent replies needed. Thanks.

Yes you can do that without any issues , that's what's the seed for on the first place , you will be able to recover your wallet without the need of having the private keys .
Btw , if you recover the wallet and you see the transaction as "Unverified" simply change the server you connected to and transactions should be displayed as should be .

If you restore your Electrum wallet with the seed, it will regenerate your private key and it will not be in watch-only mode. Protect the seed as if it was your private key.

Thank you all. So no problem if hardisk burns down Smiley and my wallet is not in watch-only mode, it can do transactions, but I don't know what watching mode only is so thanks.

We used to use Electrum for cold storage using two computers. The Electrum wallet is hosted on an offline computer and the master public key is used to create a watching only wallet on the online computer. You can read more here.

With the advent of reliable hardware wallets like Trezor using two computers for cold storage is not as common as it used to be, though some Armory fans still put up with it because they love Armory:) It is a simple matter to setup a Trezor to manage your bitcoin using Electrum while keeping private keys offline and safe in the Trezor.

You can restore the whole wallet in electrum via its seed without having the restrictions of a watch-only wallet. Been doing that for a couple of times now and I really love that functionality of electrum which makes it more suitable for personal use. Smiley
