Ow. That's pretty surprising.

I feel like this could get messy because 99% of account sellers are selling cracked accounts, but only a few will admit it; and the only way to prove it is to actually buy one from them.

Today, grue deleted ~25 OPs citing hacked accounts, it seems to be up to his jurisdiction as he's the mod there. I haven't seen any rule about this but to be honest it was pretty obvious that those account were hacked/cracked.

I think it's a fair judgment but this kind of fraud had gotten out of hand in this forum, but indeed it could get messy. I wonder if more will follow. Would prepaid Visas and Mastercards also be banned under the assumption that they might be issued under someone's account unbeknownst to them? Will gift cards sold at discount rates also be banned under the fear that they might be carded? I hope this will only affect mass account sellers given that they were the most obvious case.

It never was permitted, although it seems the threshold for deleting/trash-caning topics has decreased, and the level of attention by moderators the digital goods section has increased.

As a side note, I would not be surprised if these kinds of topics were a gold mine for signature spammers because of their large numbers and it was easy to ask a lot of (pointless) questions in them

There was also a similar deletion a week or so ago in which is lost my 700 reply thread.
I have PM'ed grue multiple times asking for clarification without any response whatsoever, it seems he just randomly comes and deletes a bunch of thread from the first few pages.
There are still plenty of such threads left, so he must just be doing a quick once over.

Also, any account seller that says the accounts are not cracked is lying.
I noticed he took down quite a few legit threads as well (selling VBA verified paypal accs, not hacked) and alike.

Oh well, It was a good run, BTCtalk seemed to be a good marketplace with minimal mod interaction and loose rules but no more :/

Nothing has changed. It was just about time to pay more attention to this. Actually the most effective method would be to ban account sales in general, albeit that would harm the 1% of the legit sellers.

Unless you think that trading of hacked accounts is legal.

You didn't get my point though. I'm trying to say that people should not (!) be complaining about their threads being removed. They were selling illegal goods.

If staff were to report every single unlawful thing seen here you'd need a couple full time prosecutors working for the forum. lol
Most likely, yes!

The forum can not be held responsible for the actions of the users. It does not work that way.
will they arrest the moderators?
Even the admins don't know who Lauda is. Who are they going to arrest, my cat?  Wink
