Wow, this is really incredible. However, I really do like my smartphone, along with most people. However, I do not feel like it is taking away from my life. It helps me to connect with friends all the time, and doesnt limit my time with them face to face.

Some discipline can help I guess. Also there are many features on modern phones to cut off the annoying calls/texts/whatever. But shunning an otherwise useful tool because of the lack of self control and discipline... I dunno that make no sense.

I only used my smartphone for call and txt moments in everyday. I guess the most addictive part of using this phone is the use of internet and stored games unless of course you are doing business using it. What makes me so addictive to smartphone is by playing games if and only if I am not doing anything and thats it..

Smartphones can be addictive because we have our whole life in them. Personal data, internet banking, Facebook, documentm, whole bunch of different aplications that make our life easier. But important thing is to find the right measure, to see the smartphones as a thing that can make our life easier but not as something that we can't live without.

I don't have a smartphone hence no addiction. I think that's the real and maybe the only possible way to live your life without constantly looking at the screen of your smartphone.

That's great, I liked this a lot.  I'm about seconds away from doing the same.  It used to piss me off when people were glued to their phones instead of paying attention to everything else, and now I'm doing the same damn thing.  I would not get a big yellow rotary dial phone however.
but that's not easy to do. I'm trying to do the same thing.
sometimes I make it and sometimes I don't.
maybe because I don't pay attention to people around me.

smart phone is very good and convenient. It improves and makes life easier. The main thing to treat it without fanaticism, not to become addicted to it. And remember the main thing - a phone made for man, not man for the phone

It actually depends on how people will use their phone or their phone using them.  I am quite guilty of having my phone browsing here and there looking on social media's new post while on a date.  My special someone would also ask me to stop holding my phones but he is also sometimes like me.  Though there is something in smartphones, they are like glue once you hold it your eyes and hands attached to it.  I use my smartphone in earning some extra income.  I Playing games that pays you dollars is not bad enough right?  Plus, if I do not have computer or laptop I use my smartphone to do some business with bitcoins.

You do know there's an off button on mobile phones, don't you? If you don't want to be bothered, you can just switch if off.

Nice one!  I do not know if I could quit it.  It is the only way for me to fight the boredom and make read of interesting articles online.  But it is really addictive and wasted your time for sometimes nonesense things.  It will make your life a little miserable because you got caught on the emotions of the things you saw on the internet.  I will try to cut off my time using internet.  Maybe I should change my phone.

I tried to do this. Was very exited about it, back in January 2014, but a month earlier I discovered Bitcoin and started mining alt coins. But yeah, I miss time before the internet.

That's not the point. If she had the cellphone on airplane mode, it would only be a matter of time before she turns it off to look something up. And no it's not as easy as saying she doesn't have any will power. She also doesn't want to be bothered ever, so no point in having a phone on airplane mode.

What worked for me was to move to a place with no cell phone coverage.  After a year of not even remembering to bring my trac-phone when I went to town, I let the sim go broke and have not renewed it.

Actually, I worked for a company who developed cell phone software once and didn't own one because it was not very interesting to me, so I was apparently never very prone to be attracted to them I guess.  Back in the day the pager was much more useful to me.  The killer-app for me with smart-phones are driving directions but I can live without that most of the time.  I also considered them to be Orwell's 1984 'telescreen' on steroids from very early on which never had much appeal to me, but wasn't the primary reason I avoided them.

Ironically I have a pretty good stack of pretty nice phones since one of my companies used to give them out like candy.  I also bought one of the early Android phones to play around with custom software since it could be compiled (well...some of it.)  I still carry one of my phones since it has a nice cam, tells time, and the GPS is quite accurate which is handy when inventorying my holdings.  It's almost always in airplane mode.

I think it's not normal anymore for you to be addicted in smartphone. It's like a disease that must be cure in time because it might get seriously bad if you're just going to ignore it. It may lead to a serious mental illness like mental disorder or something bad. The radiation that you receive every time you use your smartphone or other gadgets is the one that causes you this kind of response whenever someone is bothering you when you're using your smartphone. The brain activity function gets low whenever you're receiving radiation which is normal if we are using gadgets that are causing radiation to us in the right way. My advice to you is that focus on something that you want other than using smartphone all day. Like doing your hobbies and other helpful stuffs, you can also read some books to cure your boredom.

That's kind of a drastic thing to do for the average person.
