Can anyone tell me where I can get reliable stats on the number of nodes on several crypto currencies?

This site reports that as of today there are 40_000 nodes running bitcoin but recently it was reported as 5_000.  Can someone explain why there are different?

There are no reliable node counts because nodes can be spoofed and not every node owner will want to be connected to the node counting service. I know of several people who have said that they refuse connections to bitnodes.

I don't know what that website considers a node, but that number is very different from what is reported in other websites.

Bitcoin nodes check these websites:

http://nodecounter.com/
https://bitnodes.21.co/

Those websites' counts agree with what I am hearing from the podcasts I listen to.  However, I would also like to see node could ts of altcoins.  It is something that we do not often hear about.  Thànk you for the links.
