My account, 'whitebeard', either got hacked or I screwed up trying to log in too many times after a computer crash that wiped out my password data.  I have written to the e-mail address given in the "you are banned" message (acctcomp15@theymos.e4ward.com) twice but have received no reply, so I decided to try this route since it has been nearly 6 months.

I know the rules say you are not supposed to create a new account to avoid bans except to post a thread here to communicate about retrieval, so here I am.

Please tell me how to proceed to get my account back!!  It wasn't much, but it was mine... LOL  Cheesy

Thanks

If you have sent an email to theymos then you should only wait, it is not forbidden to create a new account and discuss about the ban (don't worry).

Well accounts are only banned in cases of spamming, trolling or a combination of both and continuous breaking of rules. Doesn't seems to be hacked via mail, or had its pass changed any time close.

If I had to guess, it was banned long time ago.

No, not the red part... just the blue box that says "Sorry,.., you are banned from this forum. For security your account has been locked..."

Ah I see, in that case, send an email to theymos with a signed message from this address: 19xUEyqjHbQqqhp5jY62YeQCh48jMwUG9S as posted here. Will take about a week or two at the minimum, but I believe it might be different for you as it was an admin who locked the account

So your account was locked due an old attack to bitcointalk (where the password hashes were leaked, I suppose), if you can prove that you are the real owner with a signed message then I think you'll get back your forum account.

Well, most of the hacked accounts are pretty low priority for the admin but considering he manually locked the account, it is probably related to a forum hack and he might get to it sooner. Keep sending him emails every week or so as he usually drops the 'case' after a week

Awesome that you got back your account. You are lucky, one guy's been waiting for his hero account since Jan. You should lock the thread though
