Post in this thread if you are a bitcoiner in the Seattle area!

I'm in Woodinville, and I know of one other guy mining away down in Lacey (near Tacoma) but he doesn't frequent this forum much. Anybody else?

Just in case anybody else is interested in a Seattle meetup, I put a placeholder here: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Meetups

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

I've since talked to two bitcoiners over PMs who turned out to be from Seattle, but nobody is posting here. Anybody? Maybe you are all locked in the newbie section . . .

Hi, I live in Seattle. I don't do the mining thing, since my office is already warm enough Smiley I'm more interested in the potential for bitcoin's use in the trade of goods and services.

I'm also a transit geek; anyone want to trade bitcoins for credit on your ORCA card? We can meet in person at any Sound Transit Ticket machine and do the deed there, or I can add value remotely if you have an unregistered card.

Hey, I'm a bitcoin user in Seattle, as well. Just got my first mining rig set up and running (after a week of frustration  Grin). I'd be interested in some kind of meetup, but the one referenced above wouldn't work for me. Would have to be outside of normal working hours. Cheers!

Not from Seattle, but not too far away. I live in Portland but work for a company based in Lacey and Tacoma, so I am in your area quite often. I might be interested in driving up for a meetup. I missed the Portland Bitcoiners meeting a few weeks ago but I am really interested in trying to create some local buzz about Bitcoin. I am currently willing to accepting Bitcoin for computer services in the Portland area. I have been doing on-site computer, network, and printer service for 11 years, so I know what I'm doing. I really believe in Bitcoin for the long term and want to help it succeed by using it for goods and services, not just treating it like other securities to bought and sold as the price fluctuates. Let's get Bitcoin flowing through our local economies and prove to the world that the Bitcoin community means business!

I didn't set that time/place, and I've never showed up there at that time, because I too have a day-job.

It's a wiki, so I guess anybody can change it that wants to. I probably wouldn't be able to make a monthly meeting, but I'd try to get to a one-time event, or the first monthly meeting.

not to be too segrationalist here but maybe we eastside miners (bel/red/wood/etc) could do a meetup that doesn't involve a tolled or highly trafficked bridge. And we have dozens of Starbucks to choose from (NE 85th FTW) as well as any number of Panera's or common areas at Bellevue Sq, Redmond TC or Crossroads (Chess anyone?). I know I'm much more likely to attend something that doesn't involve finding parking in Queen Anne after crossing 520 to do it (no offense Seattle-ites).

Do you have link to the ASIC units.  I haven't heard a lot about them.  I'm working on getting a few rigs set up over the next couple of weeks.  How many boxes could you host?

Please post model, year, pictures, price, etc.

I'm guessing you would get a better price selling it on craigslist (and then using the cash to buy bitcoins), but who knows?

Dacoin, is the Seattle meetup still active?

I went to the Seattle meetup at Diablo's I was half an hour late (doctor's appointment).  There was no group and, after asking a few people if they knew what BitCoin was, I left.

I dunno. I've never been, since it is in the middle of my workday. Somebody else set the time and place.

Sorry, busy with church stuff until about 5pm on Sundays. (three church services, then lunch, then a men's accountability group). However, on Sundays when my men's accountability group gets cancelled, I might be able to drop in sometime.

Hey, maybe YOU GUYS could fill in for my accountability group on those days. We could talk about bitcoin AND our struggles with temptation. Smiley

For me, Jesus > Family > Bitcoin (which is why my appearances at any meetups will be rare, no matter when they are). I'm sure that the suggested time and place will work fine for most other people.

I think we have Lacey representin' so Buckley's definitely in.

It would probably be more accurate to call this "Shout outs from Puget Sound" or "Shout outs from Western WA" - but nobody knows what that means. Shout outs from Seattle is understood internationally.

If someone want's to spring for a Meetup membership (~50/6months), it could bring on more people...

Another meeting tomorrow, I wanted to know who was planning on coming.  I have an invitation for a hike, so if no-one is planning on joining me, I would like to post-pone it for a week.

Any meet-ups coming up?  Is there a google group or something I should join to keep notified?  If not, I'd be happy to organize both.

Awesome.  I already have plans for this sunday, but one of our team members might be able to make it. I'll be following your meetup group and hopefully I can make a future one.
