I'm aware of Ethereum's use-case, and their latest penny-stock-esque spamming notwithstanding, I doubt that there is much need for a distributed computing platform at the moment, given the alternatives that currently exist. You can spin up your own cluster for your own "cloud" projects rather easily, without having to resort to custom clients and scripting your requirements on the ETH platform.
Also, given that computing power increases, the lower bound of "value" on computational units will continually revise downward. After all, once we get nearly ubiquitous units like pi Zero and others scattered everywhere, what's the point in using ETH?
The only real use I can see is if there's some kind of draconian world government that denies computing resources to the world, but that is so over-the-top and James Bond like, that I seriously doubt we'll see something like that unfold.
So then, you're at the start, why use the ETH solution when you can take readily available open-sourced components and spin up your own controlled instances? Just doesn't compute for me...
I agree totally with what you say,I don't hold any Eth right now,this is just an app really and will no doubt be overrun by better and simpler independent versions
but in the mean time I might make a few bob off those who think it will be the one
