I recommend a update. The old network has a old core.

Electronic Wallets:WIN | | LINUX | Source

Guides for Windows User.

1. For installation please make a backup.
2. Start Bitsend-Qt and wait to sync is ready
3. Close Bitsend-QT and go in your folder (C:\User\[Your Name]\Appdata\Roaming\limecoinx)
4. Copy the file "wallet.dat" in the (C:\User\[Your Name]\Appdata\Roaming\bitsend) (overwrite the empty wallet.dat)
5. Restart Bitsend-Qt

Or...
1. Create a shortcut from bitsend-qt.exe
2. Click right and add -choosedatadir

3. Start the shortcut and go to the folder limecoinx

Or... ( You have trouble with the chain)
1. Create the folder C:\User\[Your Name]\Appdata\Roaming\bitsend
2. Unzip the archiv https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/21000833/Bitsend/Wallet%20Download/Bitsend%20Chain.zip and copy in  the folder C:\User\[Your Name]\Appdata\Roaming\bitsend
3. Copy the file "wallet.dat" (From C:\User\[Your Name]\Appdata\Roaming\limecoinx) in the (C:\User\[Your Name]\Appdata\Roaming\bitsend) (overwrite the empty wallet.dat)

what effect this has on the master nodes?
Is Bitsend the same blockchain as Limx?

Masternodes are full nodes, just like in the Bitcoin network, except they must provide a level of service to the network and have a bond of collateral to participate. Collateral is
never forfeit and is safe while the Masternode is operating. This allows investors to provide a service to the network, earn interest on their investment and reduce the volatility of the
currency.

Due to the fact that the Masternode rewards program is a fixed percentage and the Masternode network nodes are fluctuating, expected Masternode rewards will vary according
to the current total count of active Masternodes.

Yes BitSend use the chain from Limx.

I know that I can set up a simple forum, like this one, SMF-based, or something else you want. For the DDoS I can set up a Cloudflare protection, but the 3 other issues, I've never dealt with, but this doesn't mean that I wouldn't know how to resolve it.
