I have noticed this trend of people quoting the Old Testament and accusing the Christians of something they never did or espoused and getting away with it because people who profess to be Christians don't have a clue themselves about the Bible for starters and it is mostly because of hatred, misinterpretations and so on. It is mostly hatred because they chicken shit themselves when someone challenge them to criticize Islam. They are too scared of the sword of Islam and they never do and if someone criticize Islam they defend Islam and say really idiotic things like "Christians did that too in AD 45 (Not exactly, just distant past) " Based on their reasoning, in AD 45 people killed each other and raped each other too, does this mean people in 2016 can kill and rape without criticism too?
Some things to consider :
- Who are Christ-ians? They are followers of JESUS CHRIST and his teachings, not the followers of Moses. It was JESUS who famously taught "Love your enemies" "Show your other cheek" People like Martin Luther King or even Mahatma Gandhi took comfort in HIS teachings. This is whole reason people started calling the followers of JESUS CHRIST as 'Christ-ians' because they are the followers of JESUS unlike the followers of Moses of John the baptists.
- The Bible is divided into two, the OLD testament and the New Testament. Teachings of JESUS and the first Christ-ians are written in the New Testament. It should be very obvious. The Bible is not a single book. If someone want to accuse the Christians, they should pick it from the teachings of JESUS, not Moses. The teachings of JESUS on love were revolutionary during those times and is even today.
JESUS actually did the opposite in many incidences like "Forgiving the adulterous woman instead of stoning her when the system at those times wanted her to be stoned"
There is no disciple of JESUS who killed anyone and neither did JESUS but most of them were killed cruelly and mercilessly.
- The Roman Catholic church sins are their sins alone. Christians are not just Roman Catholics and current Catholics have nothing to do with it. Bringing in something that happened way past and accusing someone in 2016 of what happened in way past is idiotic. How about I say, your forefather 3000 years ago was probably a rapist or a murderer (there is a high probability) and keep accusing you everyday and calling you a rapist because your forefather 3000 years ago was a rapist? It is just guilt-tripping noobs. It is said Emperor Constantine basically kinda replaced the real Priests with his own family members and politicians and the teachings of JESUS with his own, that was the start of it
- If thousands of years ago, the Jewish teaching in the Torah, the Old Testament was to stone to death an adulterer, then imagine the condition of the world at that time. It is easy to sit on the high horse in 2016 and quote something that happened thousands of years ago, when there was no human rights or democracy or anything that people in 2016 sitting on their high horse have. If people wanted something in those times, they didn't just trade, they just raided and butchered and looted and killed. This was the norm worldwide thousand of years ago. Compared to all the barbarism in those times, the Jewish teachings of Moses are much better.
It was only recently people have understood the concept of free speech and freedom of religion and democracy and so on. You forefathers and their forefathers all opposed it at one time down the line too.
Now, if you were created in a lab and have no forefather, then you have some standing to accuse someone of the past but it is not true
