Get Doom 3, it doesn't have multiplayer but it's hands down the scariest PC game I've ever played, I totally loved it.
It was released in 2004 so it should run fine on your machine.

You should consider installing the Steam client, you'll have access to tons of games at very affordable prices especially when they have sales on.

EDIT: There are quite a few free to play multiplayer games on Steam too.

Seriously install Steam for Windows, there are many free-to-play games that you can download and play without paying anything and there are tons more games in the 20 cents - $10 price range. Plus when they have sales you can sometimes get triple A titles for 3-5 dollars

Oh yeah man, I played Doom 3 when it first came out, and recently got the Doom collection pack on Steam for some nostalgia on my new PC.

Used to play it as it should be played: In a dark room with headphones on loud. That game literally almost made me shit myself quite a few times. And I couldn't sleep properly for over a week. GREAT GAME, 10/10, WOULD GLADLY ALMOST SHIT MYSELF AGAIN!!

OP - You might wanna try the Carmageddon series too, legendary driving games where you run over pedestrians and destroy opponents. PLayed Carma 1 when I was like 15 years old and it was the best thing i'd played in my life!

1 & 2, maybe 3 (TDR 2000) should probably play OK on a non gpu PC. There is a new one (crowdfunded) called Carmageddon Reincarnation, but that would be too graphically intense for your PC. But you can get all 4 of them on STeam right now for a good discount.

Play CS 1.6 on the lowest settings, lowest resolution. Great classic fps that I play several times a week to keep in practice in GO. Requires true skill, as most people you will find on CS 1.6 are veterans. It's also a great way to have fun and hone your fps skills. I learned the majority of my fps knowledge in 1.6.
