it refers to the time when the reward for mining a block is halved.

To ensure a steady distribution and a limited supply, Bitcoin block rewards are halved estimated every four years or 210,000 blocks till the block rewards become zero and the only revenue is the transaction fees. With the halving, lesser bitcoins are estimated to be dumped by miners on the market.

when the halfing happens, the block reward that the miners currently receive from mining a block is halfed.

It is nice we have a small pump going on but the halving is far enough away for there to be another drop below $400.
I have my bitcoin to trade and those stacked away nice and secure ready to get when I feel the time is right.

I thought the halving anticipation already increased the price recently from 2xx to 4xx. Will be interesting whether another higher price increase is sustainabe before halving. After halving and less Bitcoin supply it migh be sustainabe though...

still 5 month again to halving, are you sure price will not go to below $400 anymore. IMO,no one can predict bitcoin price.

There will be a lot of accumulation before the halving, I can agree with that and it's already happening before our eyes. But, a word of warning for many, there's a chance of a big dump after it because we all the halving is all about speculation and expectation but very little about real impact. Buy on rumors, sell on news.

I don't think the rise from 2xx to 4xx was in anticipation of the halving. It was probably the result of a way too long downtrend that finally saw it's reversal and people trusting that the reversal was for real this time. It was bought and overbought from people that were waiting to jump in on any sign of a true reversal. Also some good news was going around at that time.

Next it was sold off after being overbought a bit (5xx back to 450) and crushed by the Hearn announcement. We recovered from that and are now continuing back to 5xx ranges where we whould've been by now.

I definitely didn't expect the price to go this high. I was hoping for the price to fall back to lower $350's so I can buy myself some extra Bitcoins. The opposite happened....

Supply pressure will be mounting, there's some sweet potential edits to btc's core code that have the potential to improve capacity and the system more than most people think is possible at the moment. And then there's of course lightning networks on the way.
When the wall Street and mainstreet investment rush starts it'll be up up and away

Finally no more stupid discussions about the midterm future.
I will be surprised if this doesn't hit 500 in the next 48 hours.
