Not quite right to call it interest. Interest is what someone pays you for use of your money. Inflation is the right term, because the entire money supply is inflating and that's where you get yours from. Those who don't keep their wallets online get left behind. Transaction fees are also useful for rewarding those who keep wallets and coins online securing the network, but they're really not big enough to support traditional mining. The original Bitcoin plan was to have the fees support mining after mining new blocks was no longer profitable, but with ASICs it's not nearly enough. The Peercoin destructive fee system is interesting in that it eliminates some of the inflation so a person who stakes without spending is actually seeing a profit relative to the money supply, and the fee discourages stuff like dice games on the blockchain. The only drawback is as the coin value increases relative to fiat, so will the fiat-equivalent loss per transaction up to a point where it could become unreasonable. PPC has been compared to digital gold and that might end up being its role, something you store in a safe and don't handle except for very serious transactions.

Yes both Peercoin and Diamond are very good PoS coins. I also forgot to mention that Coin Magi (XMG) is also one of my favorite PoS coins. Not only you could earn stakes from the coins you hold but also it is minable with a unique mining algorithm (m7m) in which the higher the network hashrate, the less reward there is per miner.

At the beginning, I have found Gridcoin very interesting to help support science, but then after not getting any connections to the Gridcoin network at all, I got disappointed and left it. I would get back to it once I get at least a connection to the GRC network and start syncing the wallet.

There were some recent fixes regarding connectivity....can you give it another try? And did you try the download blocks option in the top menu "rebuild blockchain"?

I will give it another try by downloading the latest wallet. About the download blocks option, I haven't figured that out yet but will try it out as well and see if it works. Hope to get back to GRC real soon.

Ethereum will become PoS early next year. So it will be my favourite PoS coin. I like the coin to be PoW first to distribute the coins.

And I think that once it becomes PoS, it will be very profitable for those who mine lots of ETH now and then hold them for staking. It's a win-win situation. Also, another one of my favorites are TEK, XMG, DMD and ION. The last one is going to be very exciting since it will be a coin for gamers. I have a feeling that good games will be developed for this coin. You can stake them, plus earn even more as it has masternodes.

The first rule of POS coins club is we don't talk about the POS coins club... :-D I like the hybrid POS with Novacoin. You can mine it, and you can stake it, and it has proven to be pretty stable so I am accumulating it. :-)

Cool. Thanks for letting me know about this coin. Hybrid PoS coins like the one you mentioned are my most favorite since you can have the goodness of mining them, as well as generating stakes with it so I think that this could make it very profitable. Another hybrid PoS coin would be Emercoin. I have heard that they have partnered with Microsoft a few months ago. It could certainly have a bright future.

I like Bitshares too. But for POS Bitbay and Blackcoin are my favourite ones. Reward is good and those are coins that will be here in 2 years, and not likely to suddenly vanish.

You wearing a CLOAK avatar? Peercoin has only 1% minting... Cloak has 6% + PoSA3 fees reward 1.8% So for me is also CLOAK the best PoS coin
