The best part about censored threads is being censored. Until you are censored you are obliged to believe that any claims of censorship by some person is just opinion. Once it happens to you, then you know the truth. IMHO threads are either serious or entertainment. Self moderated threads, for me, automatically fall in the latter because why would you waste time posting anything serious in a discussion where the other guy can just delete you if they don't like it. Why would you even start a self moderated thread. Its a massive target. It screams that you are so scared of what someone might post that you want to be able to delete it. Why, its an internet forum FFS, who cares? There was a reason that for several years I only ever hung out on spec subforum. It was a much lighter experience Still I'm here on general now might as well make the best of it!

OP what are you talking about exactly? It would be helpful if you at least provided links. It's not a useful topic if we have to guess what the fuck you're talking about--but that seems to be the case with about every other topic on bitcointalk anyway.

It possibly relates to this topic. I am guessing, but the OP could confirm it.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1330553.0https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1373804.0apparently self-moderated = censored. doesn't really follow those threads so I don't know if there's any actual censorship going on there.

Maybe you haven't created any topics on this forum lately - if you don't get ad-sigged to death then you'll get trolled to death or whatever. Freedom of speech should not mean "freedom to take a dump wherever I want to". Unfortunately these days many people seem to think that taking a dump is exactly what they should do (of course they'd never dare to do such a thing IRL but there you have it). You can always create a new thread that is not self-moderated - so why get upset by one that is? Most of those who are long-standing forum members who actually care about communicating do use self-moderated topics now as we have ended up with no other choice (unless you want your topic to quickly become a complete mess of ad-sig rubbish posts and trolls).

ehm the problem is that some of the deleted post are not trolling or ad-sig like you think, they are removed because they are in disagreement or because the OP want always to have the last words and be right on everything on the thread... and even worse because he hate you(my post on the wargames company accepting bitcoin was banned for no fucking reason)... that is abuse to me, but like you said i can simply create my own about the matter, but...the point is that doing this will only help spam even more...

Self-moderated topics can be good against ad-sig spammers and trolls, but they are also good to make it look like that only one opinion is winning.
Deal with it, it is also coherent with the moderation policy here on Bitcointalk and r/bitcoin ...
If someone is deleting (using violence) your opinions in a debate, than you already know the truth.

Big Block & Classic supporters are all a little bitter at the moment aren't they? Seriously why do you care if somebody opens a self moderated thread?
Does it bring any issues to your life?

Yes it causes me great concern for the mental well being of the redditard that started it, so fearful that words might scathe their tender brows. Can't you see how important it is!!?!?! Do you not understand the great injustices!!!!11111!one

Self-moderation can also be done in, well, moderation. I sometimes create self-mod threads, and make it clear what will get deleted: trolling, spam, off-topic chatter and asshattery. If you go around censoring actual opinions, I expect word will get around pretty fast.

Selling out to advertisers shows you respect neither yourself nor the rest of us. --------------------------------------------------------------- Too many low-quality posts? Mods not keeping things clean enough? Self-moderated threads let you keep signature spammers and trolls out!

And all of that stuff is subject to your interpretation and I just don't take the chance that I'd be wasting my time if my post gets deleted because it isn't up to random internet guy's standards.

Spamming is violence in the same sense, which means only self-moderated threads allow self-defense.

Their threads, their rules. While people of that ilk are fully entitled to their opinions, said opinions are so agonisingly predictable and entrenched that there's not the slightest need to venture in such threads anyway. You know exactly what you're going to get and how the conversation will be steered. Same goes for their opposition.
This forum should have a multiple choice canned response on certain subjects, or even better, automated threads. One user kicks off with their usual line and then all the other usual suspects post away without having to visit it.

You get a pm with your post deletion. If you have a point and it gets deleted it shows you got the perfect proof. You can then just open a thread and make the blatant cencorship public (like this one, but i didnt see any deleted post so far).
