There is a reason crypto mining is called Proof of "Work", i.e there is actual energy from processing power and electricity put into minting coins which gives it inherent value. Well you know what, they did the work too in developing the coin with the original white paper dating back to 2013 and they've been working on it since. Work & labor is measured in more ways than just flipping on your mining software.

And for once they launched a coin that is actually working with features right from the onset instead of another lame "hey we got this really good idea, we just need 2 years to do it and an ICO to get it off the ground"

In my mind they earned the premine, and with the small supply and strong holders from the airdrop I predict it can be a top 10.

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

What features?   Huh

There is already Bitcoin and there is already Litecoin in the top 10. Why would Decredit be top 10?

Solid team (btcsuite devs) solid technology, big potential, devs have good funds and miners cant screw around like bitcoin because of Decreds superiour governance model.

If some of the developers of btcsuite are making their own altcoin, i'll pay attention to it. They're good developers, and the idea of an altcoin written in Go is refreshing.

Actually that is exactly what this coin is.

Except there is no "really good idea"...

And the ICO is camouflaged as a huge premine given to investors.  Shocked

Imo Decred is great. It has an amazing dev team, and a really enthusiastic community. Sure, PoS/PoW hybrid coins aren't exactly new, but it's not really about who does it first. It's about who does it better. I never understand what people have against premines - sure, if there's a 20% premine that would be a little troubling, but 4% of the 8% premine went to airdrop, so please stop complaining about the massive amount of money the devs made straight off the bat. Devs have also committed that they wouldn't sell a single coin for a year, while c0 won't trade for two. (https://forum.decred.org/threads/the-projects-commitment.730)

Of course these could just be words, but it's a bold commitment. I'm definitely biased towards Decred, because I did participate in Airdrop, still have all my DCR, and I am actively following the forums; I know the community fairly well, and I must say that this would be a lot of unnecessary effort just to scam us. The price has already risen to over 600k, so why haven't their been any massive dumps yet? I guess I was a little skeptical at first, but I decided, 'what the hell, even if it is a scam, I'll get an airdrop.' But since then, I've seen a large amount of dedication from both devs and community members. All I can say to skeptics is that there will be a time when you will wish you could have became involved with Decred while it was just taking off.

+1 Decred has amazing potential, could be the dark horse a year or two from now.

... I never understand what people have against premines ...

Part of it has to do with the psychology of economics.

Some people believe that a currency should not be made to benefit the people who made it or manage it, and that coins should be created as "clean" as possible, to be used as an accurate reflection of assets' (e.g., commodities') values, rather than starting a currency off with a certain percentage of that entire coin economy in the hands of people who become like kings if the coin is widely adopted.

There are other reasons people do not respect premines and those who promote them.

You should research it.

It is quite an important aspect of coins.

It's to early to tell if this coin will succeed but judging from their community and how enthusiastic their developers are I'm sure this coin will go a long way, let's give them a benefit of a doubt and let them work their way to the top..

You should research it.

It is quite an important aspect of coins.

Everything you've stated is fairly obvious, and I have looked into premines, airdrops, and alternate ICOs. 'Some people' believe a lot of things, but the truth is that it costs money to maintain these massive networks, and ensure (to their best ability) there are no breaches. As a new coin that has received as much attention as it has, it has so far not shown any lack of security or developers with ill motives.

Quote from: no-ice-please

Quote from: decred
Coins held by Company 0 will be used to fund its ongoing work on open-source projects, such as Decred and btcsuite.
I don't understand what you mean by camouflaged, they practically come out and say that is what the premine's for - funding the developers, as are most ICOs. As I said in my post, the developers claimed that they won't touch the premine for 1 year, using it only for PoS. You really didn't explain to me why people dislike premines then "because some people do". It seems that you are trying your best to bash on Decred, any particular reason? It's nothing new, we get it, and it's obvious that the developers didn't walk away from launch penniless, but it has reputable developers and despite opposition it is succeeding.

soooo this is all you can come up with for calling it a shitcoin? really?

Here is a brief incomplete summary of the shittiness of this shitcoin.

1) A massive premine. The signature of people who don't quite get what coins are about.

2) An NGO mentality. The signature of people who want to get paid for appearing to do something great that they are not actually doing. If you strip away the charming words like "governance", "progressive", etc, all that is left is bullshit.

3) Airdrop. A cheap way to buy allies, bribe strangers. A reputable crowd would not throw dollar bills. You can justify it by saying "xyz coin did it", but it bodes poorly for the coin.

4) Zero substantial innovation, beyond fluff stuff. The coin really adds nothing useful. It only claims to, in very eloquent language.

5) The one, single, only thing that gives the project some credibility is the list of projects that some of those devs were involved in. It looks like some of them were involved in big projects in the past. This coin will continuously need a massive inflow of money to keep it looking shiny to investors and the public. At some point, as more coins are mined, the expense will exceed the return and the house of cards will fall.

lol ok, so where does MZC and Maryjanecoin fit in that mentality? Either you are butt hurt or stupid... I cannot decide which.

This post sums up why all this bullshit is a scam
Read It. Hate It. Change the facts that it represents.

MARYJ I tried to support but got put off when the dev started deleting critical comments.

Great insight and analysis I guess this applies to all the new coins coming up in the market i don't see much on this coin, they are making things shined in the eyes of investors,I have a taste of how their admins and devs works they ban people on their community that do not adhere to their beliefs ..

i was trying to not get involved until i read  "MZC I still support because I like the idea of a Native American currency."...u support that crackr payu harris, lol and his cronies, anon pirate and boxxa...gd luck , suppose u also believe his latest pump attempt saying ...he will be lakota nation mayor ,lol  and as for premine dammn payu got a shitload of mzc ready to dump on your ass daily.
And aswell as myself , many of my bitcointalk and twitter friends recieved 282 dcr as promised ( over 200 people afaik) , so stop talking shit about devs keeping the airdrop.
Either your butthurt u didnt get any coins or you want to buy cheap, why else would you create and monitor this forum?  ( no need to answer )  Tongue

So 2 full pages and still not even a sign of "Genius Innovation", I guess that says it all.

The code does not appear to be a copy and paste clone. However; since I have can't even program "Hello, World!" without a step by step guide, it doesn't take much to impress me.

You're partially correct. There is not much new to Decred, but that doesn't automatically make it the other option - an utter shitcoin. Notice how many people voted "Brilliant coin. Solid team. I'm in." Sometimes just being associated with a group of people is enough for success. I'm not saying that Decred is the most revolutionary altcoin of the century, but I will say that the developers are going about the management of this coin perfectly - and that's all it really takes. People can hate and call it a shitcoin; regardless the coin is steady and will hopefully be added to more exchanges soon.

these should be considered as  "innovation"

1.  i tried to mine this coin and it was very difficult, like 1 or less decred every day on 280x, would that be considered genius innovation considering that dev get from premine and subsidy

2. from https://dcrstats.com/  i can see Dev subsidy: 3.1195 DCR  Huh what was taht ?

3. premine was airdropped to attract shill and supporter

4. premine can be used to conduct pos mining Tongue  (see above 1 and 3)

this coin is indeed "genius innovation" lol
