This thread is in the wrong section. Even though that image is useful in explanations, it is outdated. The national debt is above $19 trillion and there is no sign of stopping. It is actually becoming quite ridiculous.

The government keeps promising that they're going to stop increasing the debt ceiling, but it keeps on going up.

With or without the war machine chugging away, fixing the US' debt is a massive challenge and many governments are going to have to work to spend basically nothing and slowly pay off their other campaign promises.
