I mean when you open the wallet, now it's pretty fast compared to the old version, the verification process it's not longer painful, I even see a % to see where you are at. My problem is still the downloading time is still pretty slow. My connection is not fantastic but I can download at around 800 kb/s max when the source is great, for example a Steam game (they have top quality servers). I doubt im downloading at 800 kb/s or anywhere near that because it's taking me so long and I doubt to update the blockchain from a "4 days ago" point can take this long. There must be something wrong with the upcoming connections. I have opened the port and I get around 8 upcoming connections. I would like to see at what speed im downloading. Maybe you could add this on the green loading line like "4 days ago (523 kb/s)" or something. Seeing at what speed you are downloading is interesting even for newbies so it should be pretty easy to see somewhere in the interface.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Help ⇒ Debug window ⇒ Network Traffic

If your blockchain download is getting stuck, try connecting to different peers (some of them have slow connections, or limit you after downloading xx MB)

Close bitcoin-qt... find your /.bitcoin folder, and delete peers.dat file... then restart bitcoin-qt, and it will connect to new peers... hopefully downloading faster

Are you using the latest stable version ? (0.12.0) that got released yesterday ? If it's the case then try to unistall everything and install back and use prune mode which will allow you to download 2GB instead of 50GB blockchain . (You won't be a full node though) .

I have same question

Thanks, I knew I saw somewhere a window that show the speed of download somwhere in the past. I will try to open it later again and see the speed and report back.

I dont think this solves the problem. Im talking about small amounts of blockchain. How many megabytes are generated in 4 days? cause for 4 days is taking a lot of time already, and I think that is less than 2GB. The solution is to increase actual download speed.

I have used the network window to show you the speed of download, I opened Bitcoin Core and I left it running for like 20 minutes to finish syncing, so what you see is 20 minutes of performance, and on those 20 minutes I only downloaded 29mb! very bad, so this confirms that my problem is very bad download speed.

I didn't try deleting Peers.dat, i will try next time before I open it again to sync. But I still don't like the fact that I can't really see the download speed, just the graphic which is very vague. I would like real time download/upload speed number, like when you download something  from Bitorrent etc.

Where can i download a full blockchain for core wallet.
This would be approximately 50gb and fastest way is via torrents.
Is there some safe torrent that i can use?
If someone have links post please.

Should be about 560mb if my calculations are correct, if blocks for the past 4 days are consistently at about 900kb-1000kb. The solution is actually to increase the verification efficiency for Bitcoin Core. No matter how fast your internet speed is, your CPU verification speed should be reasonable for the  synchronizing time to be good.

-snip-
Since you have only 6 hours left, it shouldn't have a huge download volume since the amount of blocks needed to be downloaded is much smaller than that.
