Would it be possible to flag really old threads bumped by newly registered members?

report to moderator? you can't really flag/mark threads (could be a nice addition on the new forum I think).

maybe you should clarify what it is that you want to be done so that we can figure out if there's a workaround.

Out of pure curiosity, what is so taboo about replying to old threads? I assume people do it at least some of the time because there's an interesting point buried in there.

Necro posting is against the rules. There are rare exceptions though, e.g. if you have something to contribute to the thread that might still be of relevance.

Im not really here, its just your imagination.

it's allowed as long as the bumper bring something new and/or constructive to the thread. the ones that gets deleted are mostly posts by users that have sig ad who's posting something that have already been posted before on the thread just for their signature payment. or sometimes by newbies who doesn't know the rules and posting something entirely out off topic or low quality. in rare cases I see users ranked above full member and their posts rarely gets deleted because they have no sig ad (I think this one depends on the mod of that section.).

Some boards like you to start a new thread, and link to the old thread if you have an update. But I wasn't really objecting to useful updates. I was commenting on several recent postings by new members with under 5 posts, and they are commenting in 5 year old threads, by adding comments such as "I'd like this".

Well, just use the "Report to moderator" feature(lower right corner) and put "necro-posting" as the comment. Most of those necro-posting newbs are MMM sig spammers, who get nuked

When I report stuff I am never sure if I am classifying it correctly to make a mods job easier or leaving it to open for them to wonder what the hell this guy is reporting. Will use nercro post in the future.

Do not see this as often as I do account farming.

People keep bumping that motherfucking "cupcakes for bitcoin" thread and everyone says the same fucking thing and the guy who started the thread abandoned it without locking it.  Mods can't or won't do anything.

I don't see anything wrong that especially if you are going to post or add something constructive,or you need to update a post about tutorials so readers will have a new update on the old post about certain things,it goes with quality.

I don't see the problem also normal the moderator of the forum close topics. So normal forum users only let moderators do there job and all will be fine. You can only discuss when topics will be closed and when they don't get closed.
