I am seriously considering purchasing either a trezor or keepkey within the next month and would like to make a sound judgment. I'm leaning towards the trezor because i really don't feel like the bigger screen and little bit nicer build quality isn't worth $140. I could even buy a back up trezor with it.  Grin. I have two questions regarding the Trezor. Is there a specific reason why you choose the white one and what wallet do you use in conjunction with your trezor for what reason? Do you use the general Mytrezor webwallet, Electrum, ect.. for all your personal funds.
Thank you!  Smiley

Color is just personal preference. I like black because it looks cool and makes the screen pop but really all colors look fine. I started off using the myTrezor.com web wallet but often use Electrum now. Also Mycelium for Android. Remember if you set up hidden wallets with pass phrases you will not see the hidden wallets unless you use myTrezor.com, Coinprism, Encompass, Electrum or Mycelium. I like your idea of buying a backup.

The whit is just kinda the classic so it let me see what a lot of users are getting.  There is the other color's out there and it really is as said above personal preference.  No matter which one you get you still get the same great features.

On myTrezor wallet I started off with site I wanted to test and use it first.  It works really well.  You can have multiple accounts on it, so you can easily have BTC in different addresses for different purposes which for me is a big thing.   I like to keep my selling and mining, and signature different accounts.   I just have really started to use it below you can see a lot of the wallet from myTrezor site it allows a lot as far as a wallet to start with, very easy to navigate.  And comes with features such as signing and priority sending (send with higher fee so faster).   So really does have a lot.  I do plan on other wallets testing:

Also they have a really good comparison to other wallet types: http://doc.satoshilabs.com/trezor-faq/_images/compared_to.png .  If interested in TREZOR I suggest looking at it, I didn't post it as there is a LOT of features and would take up a lot of space which is good.

Again if anyone out there is using TREZOR I would love to hear your favorite features, how you feel about using, etc.   I feel users who have used long term really can contribute a lot in this type of thread.

I do not think I have ever seen a thread with someone complaining that "I hate my Trezor!" Sure you can buy a Ledger HW.1 for $20 and it will get the job done but Ledger products do not seem to inspire the passion that Trezor does. The only other hardware wallet I use routinely besides Trezor now is my Case. Just scan a QR code, key in the amount, swipe your finger and bitcoin is on the way. Definitely wins points for coolness.

The trust scores you see are subjective; they will change depending on who you have in your trust list.

@ OP - I have a Trezor & know pretty much all I need to know about it but I just spent 5 minutes reading everything you typed & that's one of the most thorough threads/reviews I've seen on here.

A lot of people will find this thread very helpful, if I was permitted to give you positive trust for the service you've provided the community with here I would.

Thank you for the kind word's.  My goal is to do this for quite a few wallet's as I feel it's a important thing at this point.   I currently have 2 wallets done, and a 3rd on it's way.  So I'm hoping to make it easy for someone wanting a hardware wallet to look at a few threads and get a good compassion.

I can tell you no other wallet has the following that the TREZOR has.  It has created quite the following on bitcointalk.  Which it does rightfully deserve with such a great not only device but code behind it.

Something interesting I did not think about.  I think hardware wallets do have some misunderstanding about how secure they are, and part of it is due to users giving advice/information who never have used one: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1301147.msg13340792#msg13340792

I don't think everyone understands how for example with the TREZOR keeping the key on the device and signing on it only is very secure.  And you still have seed's stored on paper in some place secure.   Paper when you go to use it your petty exposed as far as if you bring wallet.dat file in or if you import private key.

Trezor the prices are still beyond my reach, in fact the price is not expensive, because Trezor indeed in a very safe design and trendy, appropriate once at that price, elegant appearance clad in comfort, perfect. I hope someday to be able to get it.

It is one that is not to expensive is the nice thing.  I think it all depends on how much you have to store.  Even 1 BTC currently this is less then 1/4 of your value in btc, that you lose if compromised.

As your BTC holdings grow the more it really makes sense to look into the hardware area.   You will not regret it if you do get one.

Updated second post to show how easy TREZOR is to use with an android device with Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet.   It really does a good job of allowing mobility with still keeping your security which is important.

I have never understood the popularity of paper wallets. If done right (and almost no one does) they can be fine. If you make a mistake you risk losing all your bitcoin on the paper wallet. Trezor wins hands down, no contest.

Thanks for the great write up.  Right now I am using a Ledger nano, but have been interested in getting a Trezor.  I especially appreciate the part where you showed it working with an Android phone.  That is the way I would primarily use it if I get one.

Thanks for post glad that you found it useful.  Both Ledger Nano and Trezor I love that they can be used as a mobile wallet with a android device.  I see that as a huge feature, and if bitcoin expands possibly a necessary one one day.

Either one gives so much better security then standard hot wallet on phone.  I hope all that use mobile wallets use one of these some day.

Thank you very much. Your review on the trezor wallet persuaded me to buy a trezor. And I love it.
