In 1995, I was told that my monthly subscription to America Online was a waste of money.
In 2002, I was told that ditching my checkbook and using online banking was "crazy."
In 2003, I bought a 256 mb MP3 player, and I recall trying to explain what digital music was to people that still had not used the internet.
In 2005, I was the only person in my high school class that had a Facebook page.
In 2009, I bought an iPhone, and everyone wanted to see it.

**I live in a very rural area in the United States, and not many people here have more than a high school education. I still know a lot of people that have never used the internet.

In 2013, I met the first person in this community that made me feel like a Luddite. I am a law enforcement officer and I busted a guy that was using BTC to buy drugs on Silk Road. (I am not a federal officer. I caught him with the drugs and he explained to me how he obtained them.)

My point is that even though it has been seven years, just because people see something on the news or in a magazine, doesn't mean that they have the insight or the courage to jump in. Many people know about cryptocurrencies, but not many people have taken the time to consider the potential future. The operative word here is potential.

In order to understand that potential, a person has to dig very deep. In most of the world, that isn't close to happening yet.

One big factor that I have not seen anyone address, is that BTC requires one critical component, that does not exist yet... an internet connection. Even bigger, if it is going to be used as a currency, a person will need a smart phone.

You may reside in an urban area, and if you do, you wont see this. I have heard how this currency can help the "unbanked" in developing countries. Sure, it absolutely could... but you can provide them all the 2x4's in the world and they still can't build a house if they don't have nails.

Let them eat cake...

We won't be getting rich anytime soon.

I am almost there, 1 BTC milestone... but personally I think one should have at least 100 BTC to be a pioneer...

It's too late for accumulating 100 BTC as nearly no one can afford to buy that many Bitcoins, unless you have a decent amount of savings where you can use a part of it for investing in Bitcoin. The majority of the people can't even accumulate 10 BTC in total.

Exactly, its very hard to get more than 10 Bitcoin unless you are already deep into your 40s and want to diversify your investments..

Or well if you are rich and have money to throw

I don't even have job currently and I am almost half way there Grin

from which point of view? It's all about that, Bitcointalk doesn't represent the World at all and Bitcoin is speculation right now nothing more, there is no real market. What the World is interested in is just the blockchain technology and p2p as the best way to store datas

Everyone say bitcoin will reach 10,000 $ someday but will it really happen or is it just a wishful thinking of few early adopters or miners who have accumulated good numbers of bitcoin? I feel bitcoin has no utility therefore its reaching a high price is impossible

How about we wait for bitcoin to reach 500/1000$ first, and only then dream to become rich with 1 bitcoin.

Although you may have a point, but I sort of disagree with you since by "pioneer" we should mean those who first used/discover it and now how much they own. I've been on BTCitcoin since the last months of 2011 and still don't consider myself on the so called group of BTCitcoin pioneers.

Yes True we aren't really pioneers because we didn't discover the coin first but later on.

But I think that is only because we didn't know about this coin yet.

If I was friends with satoshi and he told me about this, I think I would be very exited back then and wanted to try it.

Because the first time I saw a Bitcoin video I was like yes this is going to be something great.

And my friends where like meh I this could be something good but I first want to see it.

I think everyone here is like me they see something in bitcoin that is great and better then the system we use at the moment!

I think this fact is pretty nice if you think about, the bitcoin will take over the world in the future I'm sure of that, so I'm happy to be a part of the bitcoin elite.
The future of the bitcoin is pretty unpredictable but its nice that the bitcoin will better and greater than ever right ?

To be honest we don't know what will happen to bitcoin in even 5 years. The currency hasn't been along for a very long so we don't have much to go on.

I think its also a honor to be a part of the bitcoin itself, its all new for people and is getting bigger everyday and that you can say that you was there from the bottom of the bitcoin is pretty cool right ?
The bitcoin is getting bigger and its the future of all currency's, everything is getting digital nowadays.

This is a good point Smiley. Currently people who owns 1 BTC might be pioneers, but surely not a wealthy pioneer Smiley.

Yes exactly, only 21 million people can have 1 Bitcoin.
And if some people have more then 1, even less people will be elite Wink

And this is also my goal just to have 1 bitcoin so my grandchildren will be rich as fuck Tongue

less than 21 million people can have 1 bitcoin , because of all the bitcoin destroyed/ lost private key. I'm happy to have a little bit more than 1 btc, and i agree whit you, i'd like to be a tech grandfather to give healt to my grandchildren thanks to bitcoin Smiley

Yes this is right, we are not pioneers.

But we still can hold only one BTC for luck somewhere on cold wallet.
Only thing i don't know how many bitcoin believers are there?
If we approaching number near million, then we have nothing to worry about bitcoin.
Imagine 1 million of cold stored bitcoins? This can skyrocket price!

1 btc can be good if the price reaches to a moon, its always better to hold more number of coins in wallet, as we are not sure what would be the exact price of bitcoin in future.

It ix certainly something to be part of, it's just not that easy to hold on to bitcoins they  seem to slip through my hands too quickly.  I'm a gambler at heart but I think 2016 will be the year for me to hold on to what I get.

If in 10 years bitcoin has spread and become main stream, I will feel like a pioneer then, looking back to now.

If its just meandering in a niche market, then probably would say that got into it too late.

Unless the price took a huge dive.  Cheesy

Then we can start back in 2012-13 scenario and do this all over again lol. But yeah, its getting expensive it eventually appeals to people who need it now on a daily basis of their operations of business.

I think its always good to have 1 btc in your wallet, but we cannot judge what would be its value in future, as anything is possible, either you become rich or it will be useless if price falls down.
