I use electrum 1.9.8. I tried to send bitcoin and first error was it required me to put in a miners fee. I did not put this at first but then put the minimum miner's fee. Then afterwards, it says transaction cannot go through because this version of electrum isn't supported?
Can anyone with electrum 1.9.8 tell me if this is true? And if so, how do i upgrade?

do i do this with electrum closed/ I will download it. But i read in an old thread you have to make a backup first? Because i dont have backup. I do have that phrase though for my electrum the secret phrase...
want to make sure. Also that means with the phrase that means even if something goes wrong in the upgrade, no issue at all?

Yes, you close Electrum and update it. If you have your seed written somewhere, then there's your backup. You can also make a digital one if needed. Yes, no issues as long as you have the seed, that where your addresses come from. |

Well, you choose whatever fits you best... If you're in doubt, an installer is probably the best choice. I never used electrum on my iphone...
Of course not, Electrum isn't available for iOS, what does that have to do with the issues you're having?  |

i downloaded it with standalone executable.
However is there a reason i still have the old electrum icon on my desktop? I click on it and nothing shows up. I then type in electrum in start menu and see it called electrum 2.6. So i have to copy and paste that into my desktop then as shortcut?
The other issue is why is my bitcoins in mBTC? So instead of having say 10.20909090 bitcoins showing... electrum 2.6 shows 120.0909090. Is there a way to change this?

Okay i changed it to btc in preferences. Another question. So the default fee for sending btc is 0.0005 btc? In electrum 1.9, it was 0.0002 btc.
What is the minimum fee for sending btc? I assume you could still put 0 if you like? But can the fee be 0.0002btc like in electrum 1.9 or its now 0.0005btc?

i downloaded it with standalone executable.
However is there a reason i still have the old electrum icon on my desktop? I click on it and nothing shows up. I then type in electrum in start menu and see it called electrum 2.6. So i have to copy and paste that into my desktop then as shortcut?
The other issue is why is my bitcoins in mBTC? So instead of having say 10.20909090 bitcoins showing... electrum 2.6 shows 120.0909090. Is there a way to change this?

You probably used an installer previously, hence why you have both versions now. Yes, if you used an installer it would have updated your older version. Okay i changed it to btc in preferences. Another question. So the default fee for sending btc is 0.0005 btc? In electrum 1.9, it was 0.0002 btc.
What is the minimum fee for sending btc? I assume you could still put 0 if you like? But can the fee be 0.0002btc like in electrum 1.9 or its now 0.0005btc?
