There is an intresting thread on r/btc:

https://www.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/47zfzt/blockstream_is_now_controlled_by_the_bilderberg/

Quote
Blockstream is now controlled by the Bilderberg Group - seriously! AXA Strategic Ventures, co-lead investor for Blockstream's $55 million financing round, is the investment arm of French insurance giant AXA Group - whose CEO Henri de Castries has been *chairman* of the Bilderberg Group since 2012. Bilderberg Group - Chairman of the Steering Committee: Henri de Castries (since 2012)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bilderberg_Group#Criticism
Partly because of its working methods to ensure strict privacy, the Bilderberg Group has been criticised for its lack of transparency and accountability.
Due to its privacy, Bilderberg has been accused of conspiracies.
This outlook has been popular on both extremes of the political spectrum, even if they disagree about the exact nature of the group's intentions.
Some on the left accuse the Bilderberg group of conspiring to impose capitalist domination, while some on the right have accused the group of conspiring to impose a world government and planned economy.

http://www.theguardian.com/business/2015/aug/07/axa-boss-henri-de-castries-on-coal-do-you-really-want-to-be-the-last-investor
Henri de Castries might just be the most powerful man in the world. He is chief executive and chairman of one of the world’s biggest insurers, Axa, and a member of France’s illustrious noble house of Castries. But De Castries is also chairman of the Bilderberg group, a collection of political and business leaders from Europe and North America that meets in private every year to debate “megatrends and major issues facing the world” – or which is secretly running the world if you are a conspiracy theorist.

I just wonder about opinions on bitcointalk. Is this theory total bs, or there might be some true to it, and subsequently, should we worry about Bitcoin future?

This theory makes sense because the CEO of Axa is a chairman of the steering committee in BilderBerg Group.

Only a very naive person thinks that old capital will give up. Of course, it will do everything to stay on the top. Everything.

if we look in such capital ventures, you can see a lot of "bad people".
By the way if you make some "cluster" you can find also someone linked with mafia or with heavy scandal in the past.
They can only invest on btc, they can't control btc, it's "inside" btc rule.
And even if they want to "manipulate" the market they need to help btc to growth, with investments like this one.
There are also others banks and bigger groups that invests heavy resources in blockchain app / bitcoin research....

Of course. It's probably nothing. But it's the appearance of impropriety, isn't it. Popular opinion seems to be that sometimes maybe you ought to be slightly more careful about the kind of people you let throw money at you. IDK. Undecided

My opinion is simple.
The crazy ones at r/btc should do way less drugs!!!
Is there one day in a week where not one of those guys is coming up with a new conspiracy theory against blockstream or core in general?!
Furthermore that subreddit is also having kind of censorship. If you say something what doesn't fit in their opinions you will get downvoted into oblivion immediately!
My advise: stop reading the **it created over there. Wink

yet the blockstream fanboys at r/bitcoin do the exact same thing for anything not blockstream. defending blockstream blindly, never even questioning who they are defending. yet many people that just want 2mb blocks will admit that hearne and gavins implementations wont work. for the simple reason that adam back has veto power of core and a larger budget to keep control of bitcoin.
so everyone is basically pleading to adam back to allow 2mb

basically anything that goes against blockstreams roadmap. no matter who made it. will get abused, insulted and ultimately ignored.
maybe worth questioning your own faith of who you honour and protect before saying others who dont blindly trust corporations must be on drugs.

bitcoin is suppose to be open, without corporation backing or control. a true monetary freedom system for anyone to be involved in(but not control of).
so goodluck saying that is true still

if your not willing to investigate who is entrusted with the code that secures your funds. then you might aswell think of bitcoin-core as MTGOX 2011, blindly trusting their secure code and thinking they will never do you wrong. because that was the mindset of people using mtgox in 2011.

its far better to check and learn about who is protecting your funds, rather then blindly trust their honour and motives and cry later, should something happen

r/btc started off as a good idea now it's maybe even more pathetic than r/bitcoin. Those guys need to go outside and get some fresh air every now and then. I can imagine them scanning all the news sites thinking of conspiracy angles on every damn thing that pops up.

yet r/bitcoin had a couple month lead shouting out the comspiracy theories of gavin, hearn and anyone wanting larger blocks.

the issue i see is that the community has lost control. and everyone is blaming each other. yet not directing that blame at those in power.

Oh yeah the /btc/ nutjobs are at it again. They are saying now that Blockstream is part of Bilderberg group, the same people that will tell you you are a conspiracy nutjob if you point at the fact that Gavin Andresen has ties with the CIA, but that's perfectly ok!
They don't know what to do anymore to keep FUDing, they are so in denial about the fact that Classic has been another failure.

r/bitcoin is a joke too but at least there is some non block war stuff on it. r/btc had the chance to become something better but it's a one note shithole at the moment. They blew it.

Than what should we read? r/Bitcoin? Its not much better than r/btc. Thus I usually browse both of them.

Not another conspiracy theory. I wonder how many were since the beginning of bitcoin.
