...

Of course, this thread is mostly directed at BTC fans who are NOT involved in BTC development or commerce (with one exception, none of my friends or family knows anything about BTC).  Just last week I told a friend and our daughter that I was "waiting on a confirmation", two different transactions.  My friend knew what I was talking about, but our 29 yr old daughter did not (I gave her the short version of what I was talking about).

So, who among you have any anecdotes about letting anyone around you know that you were "waiting on a confirmation"?

I never had to wait on a confirmation more than 2 hours, which is not enough for me to start stressing and tell people around. Seriously I don't even know how people can sometimes find themselves with transactions that don't get confirmed after one day. I usually only pay a few thousand satoshis as fees (i.e. the minimum Electrum fees) and my transactions get through at the speed of light. Last one took about 19 minutes, for instance.
Well I'm crossing my fingers, I mean. But until now it's always been very smooth.

this is true and happens to me once, I was chatting with my girlfriend who has no idea about bitcoin, while I was waiting for the confirmation on my transfer to my wallet, I tell my girlfriend that I am not yet in bed because I am still waiting on a confirmation, then she told me that I should tell them  to send the confirmation faster...weird... she really has no idea what is  bitcoin that time..  Grin

Had to tell to my sis in the past that "Awaiting funds transfer confirmation by the network" and all she asked was how longs gonna take (that's it). The more you give as a tag or definition, the more likely, you save yourself for giving more in the process.

i kinda have been spreading the word about bitcoin around.

so if i tell anybody around me that i know about waiting for a confirmation, they will know what i am talking about since i have explained it to them before.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

to answer the OP's question. many people have.

not related to bitcoin, but related to confirming a meeting, hotel booking, product delivery dispatched emails.

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.
Please do your own research & respect what is written here as both opinion & information gleaned from experience. many people replying with insults but no on-topic content substance, automatically are 'facepalmed' and yawned at

No. No one would have much of a clue what I was on about and if they did they'd probably think I was a posing knob end.

I haven't had to tell anyone "waiting on a transaction" as of yet since I have yet to spend many of my Bitcoins, or my friends know that the money has been sent/received. As more people catch on the better.

Signatures? How about learning a skill... I don't care either way. Everybody has to make a living somehow.

Not in the past but first time yesterday! Wanted to forward some coins that I just received but it is still pending after 24 hours! Coinbase won't release it for <6 confirmations so I just have to tell my friend to wait.

I once sent a small amount to a family member so he can try to send some transactions and to see how Bitcoin works. He kept spamming me with whatsapp messages because he couldn't send his coins as it wasn't confirmed in his wallet yet. "Why is it stuck in my wallet?!" "Am I doing something wrong?" Cheesy I just told him to have some patience. It confirmed after 20 minutes.

no, not really. maybe it is mostly because i don't wait on these things and go away and come back to see the transaction confirmed in my wallet. and also i always try to pay the fees according to what the network demands so i have a high priority.
