I spent the whole weekend researching and looking into mining, blocks, and hash etc..... A whole lot to learn for someone who isn't familiar with how it works and stays secure. Now I am in the spot where I am learning how to find sites for free micro transactions. I however would like to know if someone would let me see if my Coinbase account is setup right and I used the right wallet vs private vs vault id. Even if you send a penny worth of BTC I just want to see I have it set up right before I move forward.

Also anyone with any advice for a new starting bitcoin enthusiast please feel free to contact. I have not checked out LTC to any others yet so any thoughts on those would be welcome.

Many thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Forum, I think first you have to go through this forum , here you will find all your answers regarding mining, blocks and bitcoin technology apart from this you will get full details about alt coins and their performances. You can do some good posting and rank yourself up so that you can join a signature campaign to earn bitcoins through pay per post or fixed. Coinbase is a good web wallet with fast service.

Hi, Welcome to Bitcoin family. Coinbase is quite old and trusted for storing your bitcoin. However, if you want to store really high amount of bitcoin, then I will suggest you to use a desktop wallet. But a desktop wallet will take a long time to get synchronized at the first use. So, for small faucet payments, Coinbase is good.

Now, once you have a bitcoin address in coinbase, you can visit faucetbox.com. It is a micro payment wallet and they have an extensive list of faucets. The small payments from faucets will be stored at faucetbox account  and you are free to withdraw the payment in to your coinbase wallet as and when you want. Please note, that you don't need to create any account with faucetbox. Just use your coinbase address.

Small steps my man, before you can run. Do not just jump into the LTC or any other Alt coin before you have done proper research. A lot of these Alt coins are pump n dumps and scams. There is however the exception to the rule, but they are spread thin. Do not give anyone access to your Coinbase configuration, for this will put you at risk of losing your Bitcoins.

Please don't recommend storing large or any amount of bitcoins for that matter on a desktop wallet, especially to newbies.
If OP needs to store large amounts then he should probably just use the Coinbase vault until he learns a little more about the way things work.

Number 1 rule with bitcoin that nobody should have to learn the hard way is ALWAYS store your coins offline
Look into paper and hardware wallets OP.

If you need help checking that your Coinbase account is setup ok then ask their support for help, do not give your password to anyone!

You should start learning about different types of wallets for future use.
Set up a desktop wallet (Mycelium is easy to use) and send a small amount of BTC to yourself and back again. Remember that Coinbase will cove transaction fees but you will have to pay when using just about any other wallet, set the fee to about 0.0005 for fast confirmation as the mem pool has a backlog.

welcome to BTC. o think that you would fin it as a very interesting ride. Personally, I love BTC and try to use it whenever I can. yeah, keep researching about BTC. it will help you to get up some nice posts. Anyway it is always nice to have some background info. However, I think that you should skim through the forum. You probably know about signatures and stuff like that I hope. If you don't, feel free to post here. in your Coinbase account, there isn't much to set up. basically, all that you have to do is register and authorise your device. after that you are basically ready to receive, give, buy, trade, store... etc. Smiley Smiley Smiley

You probably want to earn some Bitcoin, so I recommend using some faucets like freebitco.in or moonbitcoin. If you want, you can level up your account and join a signature campaign.

Greetings! Glad to see another new face on the forum; some days I wonder if the only new accounts are alts for scammers.

As stated in other posts, experimenting with a faucet is one of the best ways to start out, you won't earn huge amounts of money but it starts to look like more after a short period of time.

If your Coinbase account is fully set up like how they describe it, you should be good to go. It will change the address occasionally, so keep that in mind, but it will all go to the same account. I think this is a thing Coinbase does to maintain user's anonymity, but I might be wrong.

Once your account becomes a high enough level, I recommend getting into a signature campaign. That is probably one of the best ways to earn large amounts of Bitcoin in a shorter space of time.

Good luck, and I hope it all goes well for you. Be careful with what you invest in!

Amazing reception, thank you all for jumping in with so much information. It is a lot to take in and I am taking steps to make sure I do it properly. I spent the day reading about block mining alone and if you really get beneath the currency there is a ton to learn. I will check out all that you have suggested and look forward to being a member here.

Much appreciated, Bryan

I'm not sure how exactly we can help you.. i mean with Coinbase? Coinbase have nothing to do with micro-transactions. It is online wallet, or even more it is exchange. If you are already registered there and you confirm bank account or credit card, thats ok - this is safe service.

If you are asking about microtransactions/microearnings accounts, most popular now is FaucetBox. But will be better if you tell us for what you need this address/account?

Just try to buy a fraction of bitcoin on coinbase to see that it works.  You can try faucets to earn a little like was suggested already.  You can also try trading on an exchange, but always be careful where you put your bitcoins.  It's easy to lose them or get them stolen.

Can someone explain the cloud mining on Bitcoin and what it is they need the people for. Is it to offset costs or does it use the contractors cpu power to speed the process? Or am I missing something completely. Like Hashnet etc...

Thanks, Bryan

First - you should change topic thread.

Cloudmining is for people who don't know how to configurate all stuff or live in places where elektricity costs are to expensive.

Most important is that most of cloudmining services are just ponzi, they don't mine in real, they just use new users money to pay "mining profits" - classic piramid.

Before you decide to invest in anything called "cloud mine" you have to make very good review and listen your brain, not people from forum. If something looks too good - so usually it is scam Wink
