Ethereum Domain Names?

I was wondering if there could exist the possibility of having your own domain (TLD) based on the decentralized Ethereum platform. Similar to NXT, where I could establish an alias (NXT aliases) and set it up as a domain name ending in .nxt

As for Ethereum, I think it could be ending in .eth where it could be really interesting once it becomes a reality (if it didn't already).

Great! How exactly is it done or where could I find more information about it? Sorry for asking, but I am not too friendly on how to set up these things, especially by commands. Any guide that would tell me more about this? Perhaps I could register a name with .eth domain.
