Help trouble shooting Antminer S7 5.06TH

video has since been taken down. does this mean you fixed it? or is it a giant expensive paper weight.

what psu was/is being used? was/is the psu powerfull enough to run the unit? saw 1 guy selling 1 and he was using a 1300w evga, definitely not enough power for a unit like this.

I'm guessing fixed it.  The power issue was a hard one as makes it where you can reflash over a bad flash ( and please please don't just update firmware on bitmain miners most of time no reason).

But worst comes to worse he should be able to buy a BBB on bitmain's site and get back up and running for not to bad.  And consider it a lesson learned.

Hi guys. I'm pretty new to this but been trying. Thing is I got my self a s7 from a guy who used it like few days...anyways. It been working real fine and so but for some reason one the blades is way high temperature than the others. Like 20c more. What's going on? Has some one else this or can some one help me out what can I do?

If something is working good.... don't update the firmware.  There just is simply no reason.  Only bitmain one there was a great reason was one S3 firmware reset button did not work.... now that is huge deal update firmware.

Well there was also the S5 where the updated firmware would keep the machine from melting down in the event that it lost internet connection...

That was a very hit/miss problem though.  I never had it in mine.   But I guess I always had big fan's pushing air.   But I not all that lost internet burned up.

Only bitmain machines I played with a lot on firmware I had were S4's and C1's.  Those I would put nicehash or regular depending on pay.  But my ones that did not use SD card (like S3,S5,etc) I tried to avoid upgrading like the plague.

have you tried taking the fans off and looking inside? the hot blade may have dust build up on it or something could have got lodged inside. hitting them with a blast of compressed air will knock any dust out or anything stuck in there.

yep the firmware that gave manual fanspeed control is the only worth while one they had.

and for the s-5 I kept old firmware and manual fan speed via the psu and this

I ran 4 fans with it on 2 s-5's so I never worried   about the bug.

Hi guys!  Sorry for being MIA. So what has happened so dar. I had quiet a few different people for several forums ask me about the power supply I was using.  It was a Dell server PSU I had custom made. What was happening last time I was running S7 5.06TH model was I did a hard reset with the button on the miner, then got a complete firmware update successfully. It would mine for a while then the fan would rev up really high and the miner would shut off. I had a few people question the delay switch to the control board. They thought I should try taking it off. Well I happen to have one of the earlier models of the S7 162 chip, so I figured I'd test the psu with it. I did this, and still something wasn't right. So while taking pictures of the psu to send to the person who build it, I found a short that had melted part of the delay and it actually came apart when taking the pictures. So I sent it back, and hopfully I will get it back this week. Once I get everything together again I will make a new video and see if the problem continues as well as what people think about the psu. I went this route because I have heard that if you can get a decent server psu, it is really the way to go? Any thoughts on that. Thank you guys tons for the help

The PSU can very a LOT on parts.  Do you know what kit your using and if got proper gauge cables?  Most kits would include these but always good to know.    But each kit does very.

Using a dell server PSU should work just fine, as long as you don't mix PSU's and hashing boards.  I can't seem to find the pictures of short to comment on it.  Am I overlooking it?

I believe that the cables were correct?  But that's based on what the person who built it for me said. I took the pictures and videos down at the psu manufacturer request.  I'm not sure if he wants to start selling these are what, but I did it just out of respect. My new psu's are supposed to be here Friday.  So I plan on posting my whole set up that weekend. I'd welcome all positive and negative feedback. I just  (like everyone else)  want the best for my miners. So more to come. I really really hope it's not the miner itself. Only a poor psu.

Have never heard of anyone using a delay switch? Do you have details of it's function and why you are using one? I find it strange that you have included one and also suspicious that there is what you describe as melting?

What was said to me is that the mining chips need to start before the controller. The delay is 4 seconds. I've never had a miner that needed it. Anyone else?

This is only an issue if you were using multiple PSU with the Controller on a separate PSU, in which case you need to ensure the Hash Boards are powered first or at the same time as the Controller. For a single PSU it is completely unnecessary.

Did the new PSU's fix the problem?  I think that is the big thing we are wondering.

On images you should be able to post use the picture frame button and post the URL picture between code.  It say's insert image if you hover above it.   But you will need to use a image hosting site that works with bitcointalk. Some sites it does not display from right.
