My local MicroCenter has 3x 5830's in stock - Gigabyte ones.
They're $149.99 after mail in rebate. (originally $199.99 each)
Worth it?

I typically think of MIRs as a bonus rather than part of the actual price. MIR companies have an incentive to NOT honor the rebate, not a good business model for the consumer.
So if you would be ok with potentially paying $200, then the $150 AMIR is an ok thing to shoot for. I'd be wary though.

imo you should grab any 5xxx series card that is still up for sale. they will not last long.

AMD already sold those GPUs to the manufacturers and stopped production. Any sales of last generation video cards now has no bearing on AMD |

Sure it does. New gamers, and everyone who hadn't already upgraded to 58xx will be forced to purchase the newer 68xx and 69xx series, whether they were planning to or not. Then those cards will dry up. And guess what? We will not see any 68xx and 69xx discount sales AT ALL. They will just sell out at normal prices long before that can ever happen.
I guarantee AMD did not see this coming, they won't have enough cards.

That makes no sense. New gamers rarely look to last generation technology to upgrade. If they're cheapskates there are still 5770s. 6870s were already comparable to 5850s with better tesselation, better crossfire scaling and better power profiles. So... anyway, yeah. |

Whatever. ATI 68xx and 69xx series will sell out earlier than expected, unless Bitcoin price doesn't match difficulty. (or crashes). That means higher profits for AMD.

68xx and 69xx will not "sell out", or if they do it will certainly not be because of bitcoin. It's nice to be optimistic about bitcoin but seriously, people have no concept about the scale of the world we live in.
Let me ask you this, if the network size of bitcoin is 6THash/second, how many video cards is that do you think?
Estimated Answer: If every card on the network were a measly 6870 (instead of the beefy 58xx series) that would be about 18,500 6870s.

The majority of AMD's GPU sales, those that are in the millions, are low-end GPUs. Think the 6400, 6500, 6600, and 6700 series. The high-end series 6800 and 6900 account for only a few 100 thousand GPUs. The 6990 is only manufactured in the quantity of a few tens of thousands of units, worldwide. |

$145 where? i haven't found it in stock anywhere at anything close to that price I'm from Poland, managed to buy it after all the 5850's were sold out on allegro.pl (biggest polish auction site) .. some guy sold like 100 of them in few days. now the price is ~157$  gotta love this card - went from 240 to 310 mhash on default voltage |
