Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

It got to dump hard first. The people who invested a bunch of money want you to sell your coins at a loss to them, then once that happens they'll pump this till the cows come home.

My bet didn't exist before ICO closed, so, that would be impossible. Rather, I put this bet up here because I saw so many "this will easily beat Ethereum and 1/2 of Ether market cap by next month" type responses. For those people, and since the ICO has closed, this bet seems the same as me simply saying "I would like to donate 6 BTC to you".

So, it makes perfect sense as a bet for these so-called super hardcore believers. They are quick to point to the sure fire way in which LISK will take over the world at launch, yet they don't want 6 free BTC?

I wonder why.

Will make a 6 BTC bet (w/ escrow) that we don't hit 100 million dollar market cap for more than 24 hrs (in case of coinmarketcap bug) inside of 2016. Paid out day we hit 100 million inside 2016 or Jan 1 2017.
Any takers?  Grin

*had seen some guys talk about 500 million and 1 billion market cap. Thus my bet.

Senseless bet for anyone but you. If someone wanted to bet on this he would have invested that money already in the ICO and had way more ROI...
100 million means a raise of more than 10x. That means you would have to bet 10:1 to make it reasonable...

Discussion on how to get Lisk trading immediately on the Bitshares Dex.

https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,22035.0.html

Discussion about collateral and escrow to do something similar to Gatecoin's Augur option. Because of the ability to reclaim keys, a modified approach is needed. I started the conversation, letting the big brains figure out how to make it work.

It will start hitting the exchanges on April 11th. Be careful about p2p trades unless you get access to the email account as well. Some guys in Bitshares are talking about  how to add it to their DEX  (see above).

Probably true of most ICOs, but in escrowed ones it also means the devs need huge amounts of BTC on-hand. I don't think these devs had that kind of btc just lying around.

If a dump occurs instantly, I expect it would be due to whales wanting to make some waves, and gobble up cheap coin.  Although in this case, who knows, whatever dump that may occur may still be higher than ICO price.
Everything is possible and this would not be first time for such representation of power. We small fishes only can watch how rich becoming richer, this is something that will stay no matter what happens with this LISK..

If marketing does what it needs to over the next 3 weeks, I can see it at 20-30 cents within the first few days.

Too low, I think we see .25-.30 on opening. Then people push price up to .50 cent and $1.00, as they are psychological points people view simply

Don't be surprised if you see a huge S curve or crash at the start, boys.

Looking at it now, I'm a little worried that the inflationary aspect and DPOS system setup of Lisk has encouraged a smart yet devious play as follows.

You buy up a huge stake at the start. (the 1000 BTC purchase got 12% of the initial stake and this person likely has more.) You then spread your votes out so that you get multiple delegate seats spread out across multiple nodes at various locations which lets you control a majority of the forging without being traced.

I put a fair amount of money into Lisk and I keep asking "What do the delegates do to incentive ordinary users to vote for them?" Ideally it's not just securing the network but acting in a way with the profits they forge to raise the value of all Lisk holdings through community outreach, spreading the tech, etc.

However the current inflationary approach to DPOS, I feel, grants huge favors to creating a Plutocracy wherein it would be most favorable to buy up 10-20% of the initial ICO, crash the price down, use that panic to buy up more of the stake which lets you control even more of the forging wherein they can pump the price sky high and make an insane amount.

But this is rank speculation on my part.

I've seen a few good ideas for how delegate seats could be used (including my own idea which involves outreach to charity) but the interest in just voting yourself in as a large holder of the project to just sit on your fat stash to cash out during a high point hardly outweighs that. Why guarantee the value of our assets into the hands of someone you barely know when you can just buy a safer lottery ticket?

These are just my thoughts on the matter.

LISK is a bit different than other ICO because they will be releasing the product very soon after end of the ICO.
Ethereum, Maid, and others took some time before releasing a working product.
Excited to see what happens to LISK after launch!

We might see something very similar to FACTOM. It basically dropped to 50% of ICO price, then skyrocketed after it seemed dead for awhile.

However, a huge factor was their obvious attempts to integrate into the real world - with things like land registry for governments on a blockchain, etc.

I believe the most interesting and viable growth strategy for LISK is to have a ton of games.

How much BTC have you guys spent on this? I did 1 BTC. But if there were 14k BTC raised by only 3900 backers/"investors", there must have been guys spending much more..

had a buddy put in 15 btc I put in 1 btc so if it all goes 'phoeey' I can talk him off the ledge Smiley (i've done dumber stuff bfl comes to mind) Smiley

so yeah in for 1 btc which comes out to 5617 lisk if I remember right

anyhoo.....someone said on lisk forum this ICO is 2nd in amount of $$ raised on such stuff..not sure if true ..just passing it along i think they said 14K of btc plus whatever

other coin

we will be the first to know 'chump or champ' Smiley

The trolls don't want this known because they are trying for cheap coin
but Ether's $1 bill market cap
Lisk staying at or under 6 mill almost defies the laws of physics
Everything we know about markets, business, technology point to this coin being insanely underpriced.
I believe devs probably undervalued their tech with the ICO, but it's good for us
I think they hit the right place and right time with this

Can someone please explain how launch price on an exchanges can begin at a price that's higher or lower than the ICO?

Let's say the ICO ended at 19k satoshi.  Shouldn't that be the launch price?  If not, then what factors determine the launch price change?  If the price is higher at launch on exchanges, what causes it be higher?  If the price is lower at launch on the exchanges, what causes the price to go lower?

I am asking before any actual trading occurs on exchanges - how do the exchanges determine the initial trading price?

It all depends on hype and if the ico buyers don't dump below the ico price. Forcing people who didn't buy the ico that want in, to buy at a higher price. If you Fud it can cause a panic dump and have ico buyers sell below the launch price. Basically ico buyers set the price at first. Whatever they feel it is worth.

Most ICOs fail miserably. I see no reason to think LISK will be an exception.

Too much hype.
That even i am thinking but seeing people enthusiasm about it i wonder it will be a good competitor to ETH.
I was having the same feeling at the time of YOVI and i dumped 885 YOVI AT DUST PRICE NOW I REGRET.
Lets hope for the best.
