Is it that bad?
It's a pop-culture page, encouraging people to consider bitcoins as the real-world version of a science-fictional currency.

no - the page in itself wasn't bad. Just couldn't figure if it was all made up, or had some real references.

I see you've got a YouTube clip of Spike using some kind of device to transfer his Woolongs too.

Because it uses the same starting letter? Just like Bitcoin and the Thai Baht use the same starting letter and therefore we use the same currency symbol.

That transfer method seems kinda low-tech by today's standards. We just transfer our coins wirelessly between devices, with no need for any special hardware...

No idea about woolong, though I drink oolong once in a while. Either way, I like the page, as it educates the specific target group about Bitcoin. Kudos.

They're there, in their room. Your mining rig is on fire, yet you're very calm.

I'm glad some of you like it. That transfer method seems kinda low-tech by today's standards. We just transfer our coins wirelessly between devices, with no need for any special hardware...
I kinda like the hardware wallet that they use. Cowboy Bebop didn't envision an internet based peer-to-peer transfer method though. I don't think any one did.

What'd be really cool is if someone made a device for using these. We could call it the Woolong device! </sarcasm>
I never noticed it before, but why does Cowboy Beebop use the Korean WON symbol for their faux currency?
Why not Woolet, Matthew? @ OP: If you want to promote it (see title), do so in some fan communities!

As far as I remember - it's been a while since I watched Cowboy Bebop - banking and economics weren't really a big feature of the series. Sure, you had bounties, ransoms, gambling and Faye's gigantic debt, but if you wanted an anime where money is more central to the plot, maybe something like Spice and Wolf might be something to start out with? Or for the more cyberpunk-oriented, in Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, stock market and currency manipulation was central to the plot of a few of the episodes. (One in particular reveals something which might be compared to bitcoin mining and robot trading.)
I somehow doubt Cowboy Bebop fans would be flocking to Bitcoin based on this website. If you started a competing currency actually called Woolongs, you might attract some interest I think. You could peg it to Bitcoin or USD in the beginning.

I kinda like the hardware wallet that they use. Cowboy Bebop didn't envision an internet based peer-to-peer transfer method though. I don't think any one did. I like the wallets, and I expect we'll have something similar with BitcoinCard later this year, but I was talking about the device they had to slide the two wallets in to transfer money from one wallet to the other. Nowadays we do those transfers using wireless Bluetooth or NFC.
