Hi I was looking at providing BTC micro loans, and have noticed a lot of people provide account collateral. I can't seem to find a good solid list of how much accounts really are worth. I'm not sure if I really want to take accounts as collateral because it boosts scamming, by at the same time it seems to be a large part of collateral. What exactly are accounts worth, I would assume Newbies and Jr. Members are worth nothing? Thank you

Check the digital goods and auctions section for a feel on price. There's also a website that values accounts but I can't remember how to find it. I think account values are gonna take a hit as there ain't so many good sig campaigns any more.
Noobs have gotta be worth nothing. jrs maybe a little bit?

This is the website that helps you calculate the price of a btc account. www.bctalkaccountpricer.info/You should offer a loan amount less than this price to earn some profit. Also, do check the post quality of the account you get as a collateral to see if there are any chances of it getting banned. Also, the trust ratings matter and accounts with more green trust are sold at a higher value. Selling BCT accounts often have led to scamming but you need to check the background of the buyer before selling him the account.

And I wouldn't deal in noob accounts myself. How big are the loans? Doesn't take much to run away and start another account. Most people aren't very attached to them.

I won't be loaning anything too large, I want to be able to know that if they do run with the BTC, I can recover the losses at least by selling the account. Thank you for all the replies so far. I have checked out the website you provided (erikalui) and it seems quite good, I've never seen it before! I think i'll take a look at some accounts for sale too, and take a look at some good Escrow. Thanks for all of the replies!

Did some micro loans back in the days and got stiffed for some small change. Most likely a degenerate gambler. I still think it's fun and am actually offering to loan .1 out for a small return =}

There is no clear rule about how much accounts are worth. But there are couple rules: 1. Of course newbie, junior member and member account are basically not worth anything. 2. Full member account is a first level of account which is eligible as collateral imo. 3. There are also variables like: post quality (better posts=better price for account, red/green trust marks), previous bans etc.

An account value assessment is not something that some other website that have some type of script predict since most of them just use standard cases and we all know that each account value, differs even if their both have the same rank with the same activity and post. every single accounts needs to be evaluated on a case to case basis before you could accept them for a loan, as a collateral. Quality is one thing, trust is another thing (that both contribute into giving worth to any account).

the website bctalkaccountpricer.info that erikalui suggested is a good option since it will also give link to the posts which the user has posted his bitcoin address but remember that the price of a forum account is mostly determined with the bitcoin price and also the demand for it. for example if the price goes up the account will be worth less in bitcoin.

bctalkaccountpricer.info does provide an estimated price for accounts here in foru but I don't think you shoul take it as an accurate price. Here is my pricing based on the stats of an account.
Potential accounts:
Pot. Member: 0.003 - 0.01 BTC Depends on the current rank and it's post quality. If it's currently a newbie then it could be 0.003 btc , a jr. member near member rank should be around 0.01 btc Pot. Full Member: 0.01 - 0.03 BTC Still it depends on it's rank and it's post quality. Pot. Sr. Member: 0.04 - 0.06 BTC Pot. Hero Member: 0.08 - 0.12 BTC Pot. Legendary: 0.1 - 0.3 BTC
Accounts as per rank:
Newbie: Doesn't really have any value. Some people sell newbs account because it was an old account created older than 2014 , some buy it but I don't think they even worth something Jr. Member: 0.002 - 0.004 BTC Member: 0.01 - 0.02 BTC Full Member: 0.04 - 0.07 BTC Sr. Member 0.07 - 0.09 BTC Hero Member: 0.12 - 0.3BTC Legendary: 0.4 - 1.5 BTC
That all just depends on my pricing. The price depends still on post quality, if the account has low post quality it would cost less. Also the trust feedback of the account shoul matter. Never get a collateral with a negged account.

Seems like a pretty good, list, thank you. I made my first loan to a potential full member yesterday, using the website recommended and by looking at some other posts of accounts for sale, like all of you suggested. Thanks for all of the input.

Don't full the loan you give for every borrower example he wants to loan 0.04 but his account as collateral is full member so the better price of this is 0.03 but don't give full 0.03 just make a deduct so 0.025 i think is better so that you can still make a profit with the collateral if he paid the load anymore so that you can sell his account for a better price.. Honestly give a loan for someone is the best to make profit with our bitcoin and it helps for someone needed..

I did suspect that maybe the script didn't take into account the value of BTC, which is why I also looked at the price of accounts on the forum too. I gave out a 0.02 BTC loan for what may as well be a full member account (it's about 10 activity away). I feel like I should have taken more collateral for the loan but hope that if the user defaults, I should be able to recover the BTC. It's a learning curve. Thanks for the reply.

Lots of accounts and members rank increasing everyday. I'm not sure in the future (2-3 years) we can use bitcointalk accounts as collateral.

Do be carefull tough... It's not because an account is worth 0.1 that it's an easy sale.. I've given out small loans in the past, and it took ages to sell defaulted collateral for a decent price. To make things even worse, a couple guys always left neutral or negative feedback on the account being sold, making it worth even less.
In the end, a couple accounts were unsellable, and i lost some coins due to giving out loans. So make sure you have a solid plan before you even start.

Mainly it's because of the btc price increasing. I think if the price rise up to $600 or more, accounts will no longer be a sufficient collateral for loans here.

I've already given my first loan. I regret taking the collateral that I did, but it's something to learn from and it wasn't exactly a huge loan. The account should be sellable for the amount I loaned him, but only time will tell. He'll probably pay me back, but I'm not worried if he doesn't.
