Recently we were caught up by the whole debates and now another problem came up in which damages BTCitcoin image (again). Recently for the first time, a known ransomware for Macintosh has hit users and as result, demands 1 BTCitcoin to not ruin whatever they get their hands on. Things like this, make me feel like, hope there was a way to prevent these types of crimes but it's completely out of our ways apparently, so to all users of Macintosh out there, be advised.

Any thoughts?

says there that the ransomware made its way through torrents. now I don't use mac but I regularly download files from torrents. are my files in danger too? what do I do to prevent it?

EDIT:

It was a matter of time until this was implemented. And they took advantage of a recently updated software that made a big bang when it was released as it didn't get an update for a year.

This is not being distributed via torrents. It is being transmitted via the install file from Transmission, which is a torrent client. You can protect yourself using essentially common sense and some kind of anti virus software to help Smiley

I have also got infected by ransomeware some months or almost year ago but it asked to buykey from some store but i don't remember which payment method they have don't think it was bitcoin. But this type of malware is quite hard to bypass as that time also i have to format my laptop to remove it along with all my important files.  Sad

Simple solution to all this, don't use the same computer that you use bitcoin related activities for with random file downloads.

I find being overly paranoid is a good thing re: bitcoin.
